| Fingers crossed this works out for us, but I reckon it shows up two obvious points;
1) how desperate we are
2) how little there is out there and available
Like I said fingers crossed on this one.

| I not fussed about the signing hopefully he will give us what we have been missing . Think the dobbins trolls have forgotten that we have already taken their best forward in Micky P and tbh if that little sh@ hadn't opened his gob we would have been announcing his signing , He is our marquee signing which seems to have been forgotten

| Quote ="Kosh"Or, just maybe, they're doing this...
Nobody's seen the guy since he left Salford except for the people at the club who decided he was worth a punt. This includes Adam Pearson, who apparently contacted him directly with the offer. IMO that makes it worth a 'wait and see' rather than a rant about how crap he is based on the last time he played in a crap side.'"
To be fair though he was crap at Salford. When however he did lose his weight at Wigan he did lose some impact going forward. It's a double edged sword. Will a slimmer fitter feka give us the go forward we need against the heavier can't play as many minutes feka.
Only time will tell but I'm also bemused at this signing.

| Not the worst signing in the world, but not a big signing either. There's not much out there. Still think we need another big prop signing. We need a fearsome pack.

| Always caused us problems when played for Wigan , Hope can get somewhere near that form and prove the doubters wrong. We have needed size Paea and Feka will give us that .

| You can never accuse Hull of boring signings.
I'll reserve judgement on this one until he's played a few games. Plenty of signings dubbed underwhelming turn out to be very astute whilst many star signings end up as disasters.

| I'm 50/50 on this, could do either way dramatically but one thing is for sure I can't wait to see what happens when he gets a run out. Which is more than can be said for some other signings.

| Hey let's give him a go, could be awesome, could be dreadful. As I've alluded to on another (much much more rambling) post, I'm in blind optimism mode at the moment so what the hell. Anyway we don't know what else might be lurking round the signings corner (good or bad - either way might put the Feka signing into perspective).
One things for certain though, the statement "could potentially be the signing of 2014" might not be far off the mark, I mean did anyone see how/what body part he actually used to sign? There's more than one way to impress a coach

Agreed - it's not like there's a barrel full of quality out there for Feka to be at the bottom of but I think almost everyone understands that. Need another prop for sure.

| First thought was OMFG!
After thinking about it, potentially it could be a very good signing. If we get the Feka that played for Wigan and in the NRL who is fit and hungry then he will give us what we lack, some impact/yardage. If he's the Feka at Salford then it's an awful signing.
Have to trust the club, they have seen the shape he is in so hopefully they have made the right call.

Do we think that he has found himself in second grade French rugby by accident?
I personally cannot understand why, with the lack of quality available out there, we watch Saints sign 2 very good prop forwards while a supposed ambitious club like ours is recruiting from the scrap heap.

| There are reasons why players find themselves lower down the levels, the main ones (especially for players like Feka who are ex Internationals) are passion, commitment and attitude.
By the sounds of the interview he knows this is his last chance, and I wouldnt be surprised if his contract has some clauses in it

The game is littered with players who have been written off who then come back to surprise people. What matters is what shape he is in and if he has the desire. If he has both of these then he could be a very useful signing. We have to trust the people that have seen him training at Hull and have spoken to him. They know better than us if he's worth the risk and they have decided he is.

| We usually make at least one truly awful signing per season. Usually it's in a vitally important, pivotal position. If we've filled our "crap signing quota" on a 3rd choice prop, and a young back up utility forward - I think this is the least disastrous recruitment strategy in a while. Paea is a top signing, and with the possibility of two more good signings - it's maybe not as bad as I've been thinking.
There will also be new youth pushing through. This season we've already had Shaul come in a look better than the incumbent Aussie, not to mention Crooks and Lineham. With the young forwards pushing on next year - it's not all doom and gloom! I worry for Cunningham who in most teams would be ready for some game time, but will be kept out by Houghton and Heremaia. I reckon a loan spell would do him some good.

I agree with that but I trusted those same people last season when I was seriously questioning the signings of Johnson, Galea and Crookes who IMO all turned out to be very poor signings as many of us thought they would.

Still only young, wouldn't be surprised to see him get alot of time with Donny. Hopefully he'll get a shout if either Heremaia or Houghton are missing instead of us making them do the 80.

| Having spent time around the squad, one glaringly obvious observation is the lack of older heads, especially next season. He's an international and will be another good example to the younger props. Get fit feka and prove people wrong.
For what it's worth, I think this lack of experience led to the signing of Galea. Unfortunately he was pretty much finished. Just need another couple of signings....with experience please.

Harsh on Johnson who may not have the size but, hasn't done anything wrong. Crookes again I think is harsh, he was playing well before he got injured and then couldn't get back in. Since he has been back his form hasn't been as good but that can happen. He's not in the class of Briscoe/Lineham we just have to accept that. Galea for me was defending well but offering little in attack and then got injured. Maybe that was a year too far but club felt worth the risk as they wanted some experience and leadership in the pack.
Recruitment is always hit and miss.

Yeah, I thought it was a joke when a Hull fan first mentioned it to me, but when you look at the SL ooc list it's easier to see why leftfield options are worth considering.

While Pearson is no doubt ambitious, as a businessman I assume he wants to run or (eventually) sell HFC at a profit. McManus isn't attempting to do that, so Saints are less a bit less constrained - though they are trying to put a bit of a brake on their heavy losses. Paea's very good and the scrapheap can yield the odd gem.
Plus, with crowds down at Hull (as well as pretty much everywhere else), while I'm sure you'll still be at the cap, if you were 'stretching' it before, it might make sense not to do so, so much now.
