Seemed as though he was determined to get Peacock,hope Green see's that Peacock is the benchmark for prop's,a good player to look up to.

Westerman's a bit soft imo. I think other forwards know this & target him as well. Flashy against lower sides when Hull are winning easily but goes missing when it gets tough. Talent's there, needs to man up a bit.

He's been a 6 for the last 2 years, and he was the last of a dying breed before that. People need to realise that the old 13 role of dictating the play has gone and stop berating Westerman for not doing the very thing that nobody else does, either. No other back row forwards in SL are expected to control games by either their coaches or fans, it's a delusion exclusive to Hull fans purely because we paid a fee for him (which is irrelevant, btw). He works hard and looks dangerous when running out wide when we're on the front foot with a bit of speed in our play. In case anyone missed it, it was exactly this which got our only score on the board tonight. Of all the problems we had tonight, he's a fair way down the list.

That said, I would actually play him in the 2nd row, personally.

Sinfield plays 13 when Burrow switches to 7, and has bossed games from 13 throughout his career. O'Loughlin is far more influential than Westerman on the outcome of a game and the performance of his team. All of which is largely irrelevant because, as I said, I don't expect Westerman to boss games.

And I'll say it again, and join in with others who have also said it: I disagree. This is not an opinion I share. I think you're wrong. My thoughts are different to yours. The things you've written, I do not concur with.

Agree. If we were on the front foot more often and he didn't play 80 minutes each week it might help, though.

Just got in and didnt expect that scoreline.....Leeds was simply too good for us but it was 1st match and it isnt won in 1 game...a host of problems for PG to sort out.

Mcdonnell.....good going forward and joining the line..although he did ignore the overlap in 1st minute...puts crap up you when it goes in air.

Crookes...ran hard all night but at least 3 of leeds trys came down his side.

Arundel....see Crookes

Yeaman...starved of ball...good in defence.

Holdsworth.....hopefully will come better but not impressed yet

Seymour...poor and fans scapegoat...maybe PG has to take some of blame by not playing him and Holdsworth more.

Gentle...rotation was agaresque at times and got it wrong tonight.

Only skim read the past few pages, but what's everyone's obsession with Westy having to 'boss games' and be this massive star? The only hype he apparently has to live up to is the hype created by the fans and his signing fee. Some of the only have breaks tonight were by him, he's a good player still at a very young age.

A player fans weirdly seem to love to hate.

We defended well for 60 mins and then collapsed. I was pleased with how Crookes and Arundel played first half, makings of a good partnership. McDonnell did a good job of getting us out of our half. The combinations are still misfiring which is disappointing but understandable.

I've said it will take 5/6 games before we gell properley and we just need to be patient. Losing Ellis would have hurt too.

The biggest factor for me was out ptbs which were painfully slow, compared with Leeds which were ultra fast. We has to start being smarter in the collision because against the top sides it will cost us the game. The disappointing thing with this is we were the same last season and Gentle needs to rectify it.

That all said I thought Leeds were superb tonight in defence and attack.

Just need to be patient and it will come.

On Westerman, he's a player really rate and for some reason seems to be one that people judge harshly, maybe it's the fee?

He needs better ball from the halves, as do the backs.

Our biggest problem is still the lack of a 7 and a half with pace. Until we get that we won't win anything.

agree 100% especially with Houghtons lackluster performance heremai is a quality hooker and now we will see the best of him changed the game when he came on Houghton slowed everything down today which was unusual and hope he can shrug off that stupid inside ball he keeps doing and start running at the defense alot more like we see him do at his best. id play lineham with arundel next week and challenge Crookes to get his spot back off him.

Gentle has Westerman playing on the right side of the pitch only, poor coaching imo.

Playing at loose he should be free to roam and given a more dominate role in the team. His ability is being stifled.
