I'm not so sure that Agar is going to have the BIG clearout that we all want. A lot of the OOC players are probably some of the samller earners at the club and the obvious dross that takes up a large chunk of the cap is already contracted for next season.

I have my fingers crossed for a wholesale clearout but aren't going to hold my breath.

Radford, Cusack, Dowes, King, Thorman, Lee, Tony, G Horne can all go for me and anything less than 7 or 8 players leaving will not be nearly enough.

What part of spelling players to avoid exhaustion are you and Agar having difficulty with?

Very few forwards can operate at anything like 100% for 80 minutes. We had players on the pitch who were absolutely bolloxed towards the end of Friday's game and fresh guys sat on the bench. That's just poor.

Prime example being Dowes...he needs a week off if you ask me.....also did anyone notice after Sts last try and 5 mins left he brought Dowes back on...why??????

Yeah I wouldn't be unhappy to see that lot depart.

In the past 12 months we have lost Crocker and Carvell and i'm going on the basis that Fitz, Hame and Tansey combined have pretty much the same salary cap value as Crocker and Carvell.

If Tony and Cusack leave that will be again another big chunk of the cap gone and i cant see Long been on as much as Motu and Yak combined.

The only way i see us having to release players is if we make a marque signing as if we sign Turner and Aizue i cant see anybody needing to be released to make room on the salary cap.

That should have been the selection to start the game. I accept that the players currently in the squad are not his choice but he can still coach them in training to run onto the ball, run angles, dummy runners, support play etc pretty much basic stuff but there isn't even the slightest sign of it. The only player that is at least running angles etc is Tickle, which lead to him getting his try of Friday night.

But next year will be too late paul, i tell you hear and now he's not up to it

keep him go in to next still same results he goes Sharp takes over mid-season back to where we started from, the old this year gone wait till next year

Go get the best possibile coach ready for pre-season to take us to where we belong

Kite won't come cheap I wouldn't of thought, if he comes.

There was no whispers or anything about Kite leaving Manly untill the HDM pulled his name of the hat it seems.

So that is Motu, Thacks, Cusack, Byrne, Crocker, Horne and Motu accounted for.

Also Luauki is coming in so we would need to shed another 1 or 2?

Its hard to work out without guessing at wages but even on my assumptions that is a fair few players gone between 6-9 gone.

I really cant see Tansey getting paid as much as Byrne.

Plus i was under the impression we are not spending at the full cap due to the Carvell situation.

If you take Kite out of the equation its a different story though.

He's Dykes money plus we would have spare from that?

I'd love to see the whole coaching staff go at the end of the season and a brand new coach/team brought in mate but I just can't see it happening.

Now we are going back into last season's money, which makes it impossible for us to work out.

I guess we will see at the end of the season, I hope we get Kite and would also like a fullback if it's possible and then a good clearout too.

Time will tell.

I understand the problem, I was just pointing out the other side of the argument.

Kear took us on a good cup run but we had an inconsistant league season, yet we still came 5th. In 2006 he got sacked after 3 defeats in 8 (not sure if that figure includes the Bradford cup game though).

Sharp had a fantastic 2006, but slow start in 2007. He turned us around and we came 4th (but 5th best in the league due to Wigans deducted 2 points). He was then sacked despite a 'nightmare' injury situation.

Agar takes over and despite taking us to the cup final (a win against a very poor Bradford that day, but an unusual good attacking performance in the semi) he makes us worse in the league. He starts off the season good but its obvious that it papers over the cracks with a run of 2 wins in 11 and by the time we play at home next, it will be nearly 4 months without a home win.

So the point I'm making?
Despite inconsistances, Kear and Sharp proved that they could get good rugby from the players yet they were sacked. The majority of the players in the current squad played under one or both. So Agar has no excuse for not getting better from his players. He has proved that the majority of the time, he cant get the best from his players, far from it. Very rarely have we got a performance that is on par with how well the players can actually do.
Sharp had tons of players injured, yet he got sacked. It can not be used as a defence from the board as a reason as to why we are doing poor now.
The question I have, and obviously alot of other fans now have, is why is Agar still in the job when his predessors (sp) have done better than him yet found themselves out the job? I actually agreed with the decisions to sack Agar and Sharp before, albeit Sharps sacking came a little too late for my liking. There is no excuse as to why he is in the job still. He has players good enough to not be playing so poorly, they have proved it before. He is an awful head coach and the board, for once, need to spend money on a fantastic coach. In the long term it will save them money from sacking other coaches, plus more fans will go to games and I'm sure sponsorship would go up to as a result
