Who knows what the answer is! That's just not something I want to be hearing from our head coach even if he's been honest. Hardly inspires confidence.

It's the well paid head coaches job to know that. This is exactly why lots of people said he was not experienced enough to be given the job.

The 'Club Hull' policy of appointing ex local players & existing coaching staff, to instill pride & passion , which in reality shouldve been - the best staff available .
Our problems have stemmed from appointing within, its doesnt address the issue, which is an attitude of apathy, Pearson shouldve gone for a coach who is proven., and a full clear out of the coaching staff(conditioner,Assistant Coach etc etc), let the new guy, decide who he wants.
I got slated for suggesting Brian Smith, as he has a record of improving player's core skills & attitude, at least all our players would be 'singing from the same hymn sheet'
Other issues, are our core skills arent good enough, more worrying the youngsters will inherit these traits.
It will be interesting to see from now on, how Pearson reacts when performances drop,
I think we will give a helluva performance against Wigan, but ... the player's attitude hasnt changed since 2006, turn up -when we have to.

Completely agree. A good coach and his staff should be able to do this anyway regardless of where they came from.

Can't argue with this at all. For me, promoting assistants just doesn't work for us. And if we do bring in someone new with head coach experience then he needs to be able to bring in his own team.

I have similar concerns about the youngsters. Not just skill wise but apathy wise. They'll look to the senior players for guidance/tutoring and if the players send out the wrong message then we're just going to have the same problem with the next generation of players.

Not just performances but how the fans react. If more fans start walking and react like that guy did on Sunday in the West Stand then he'll act.

Whilst I'm not expecting a win I do think the players will put in a good performance this week. They'll know they have to turn up for this one.

You can forget Smith or anyone else coming in because Lee Radford is here for a while yet, all the signs are there we are signing players and about to sign players that are his choice, there would be little point in doing that if he was off. We've all just got to do our best and back him, its obviously some of the players that are letting him down and I expect there will be a constant turn around of those in the coming weeks. However its nice to dream of new coaches as we all did for about 18 months under Agar but like then we might have quite a wait and our owner is injecting more money into the Club, which its hard to imagine he would do if we were about to change coaches, so it won't be happening, even if we get sucked into the relegation mire.

Fair comment Wilf. I'm not convinced by Radford at this time but the problem can't just be pinned on him as the players are letting him down. We've just got to hope he can turn things round.

It was mentioned by Radders that some bloke stuck a finger up at Pearson during the match and hurled some abuse at him like "I'm not coming to watch this BLEEP again!"

Reasonable conclusion to draw. I also have said for a while that I think Pearson will give Radford time and I hope he does. Radford needs to learn from his naïve comments to the media after this game - it's not his role to criticise the paying supporters of the club and he needs to stay well clear of that. Also it's best not to imply that he doesn't have a solution to the issues although I think that was just sheer frustration. I like his honesty in many of the things he says - he actually says what many have said on here about the players' performances for years.
It's recruitment that has messed up this club for a long time and McRae seems to me to have set Pearson's plans back at least two years. I hope Motu Tony can do better. We need higher quality players than we have to challenge. Radford's coaching will improve but I don't think we have enough quality on the field as things stand now, particularly in key play making and the 'game-management' area but also other areas. Losing that game on Sunday was a classic example of lacking a general. It's that long since we've had a player of that type I think some fans have forgotten the importance of it. Westy has masked the absence of such a player this year with his outstanding effort and consistency in his play making role but even he can't dictate play in the way that is required and in any case he's out now.

said it all last week little has changed just moved forward.
There's no worry about Pearson being bothered about fans reactions like the guy on Sunday Doc either I think he's too long in the tooth for that and in fact gave as much back to a gang of Cas supporters who had a go at the Jungle earlier this year. But our owner certainly has a lot of passion and he'll stick with it, there's little doubt that he's absolutely gutted though as the players found out at 9-00am yesterday morning!

As I said on twitter (I think), I wouldn't have wanted to get on the wrong side of AP at around 5pm on Sunday. He looked furious and was almost purple trying to keep it in.

I’m not doubting what you’re saying Wilf but this all feels like another jam tomorrow scenario again. So Radford’s looking at bringing in his signings (can we expect more of the Colbon quality?). does that mean another period of transition? I guess it does. We seem to be in a perpetual cycle of blaming the last coach and his cohorts for their poor signings, it’s never ending. I’m afraid it’s now a vicious circle where some fans will stay away choosing to spend their cash elsewhere, this in turn affects our revenue streams. It’s a sorry state of affairs.

| Recently read a quote from the author David Foster Wallace about athletes, couldn't remember it exactly but after digging around found a quote.
"Professional athletes are in many ways our cultures holy men: they give themselves over to a pursuit, endure great privation and pain to actualize themselves at it, and enjoy a relationship to perfection that we admire, reward, and love to watch, even though we have no desire to walk that road oursleves. In other words, they do it for "us", sacrifice themselves for our (we imagine) redemption."
It must be more than five years since I have felt like that about an FC team.

A first team player told me that he thinks Radord is a "great coach" but an "awful man manager". He said that if players make a mistake or don't perform Radford bawls them out in front of the group and that Ben Crooks's confidence had been shot because of Radford's treatment of him.
Based on Sunday's performance Radford's policy of ruling by fear doesn't seem to be working.
