| Quote ="whenitsnotraining"I wouldnt worry too much if Rangi likes 'a few beers'.
So long as it doesnt affect his performance on the pitch.
According to Cooky on SL Supermen, Jason smith was a righ p**s head?
He did alright as I recall?
Chase and Brough at 6 & 7?
'"
haha to say jason smith was a right p**s head is an understatement i used to live next door to him and i can tell you a few stories about his antics. it is a wonder how he used to put in the performances on the pitch the way he carries on but as you say put in the effort and played great on the pitch so no one questioned his off field actions.
I think signing chase will be just what hull fc need a big shot in the arm for the fans and players and the club as a whole and would dare to dream of a partnership with brough in there too.

Wasn't it Phelps or Sam Obst last year that had the same thing to go through, didn't understand as they were already in the country, presumably, having already received their visas
Still if this is the only thing left before Chase arrives then wow

Chris28 understands these things, I think. fwiw, I assume that it is just something like a 'change of employer' formality. My guess is that it wouldn't be expected to be any sort of an issue, other than with the transfer deadline being friday. No idea how long it'd take or how advanced the process already is, but from the PR it looks like they expect to make it; but they have to cover their behinds in case of a bureaucratic hold-up.

| If overseas quota problem is an issue with Rangi - couldnt we just de-register someone for the rest of the season?
I'm sure this has been done before somewhere?

ahh right, still seems a bit odd to me. I thought you had to be a british citizen to hold a uk passport and as such giving you the right to live and work in the UK and also be eligible to represent the country. obviously not the case.

Is the correct answer (especially the first sentence ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) ).
If he's signed, or about to, it's a fairly straightforward transfer process. He just needs the visa changed to a new one (the current one will only allow him to work for Cas) linked to FC. The club are pushing it to get it done though - postal applications are taking 6-8 weeks. If only someone could try to fit him in at the UKBA in Sheffield this week.... ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

If that's true, then he shouldn't need a work permit and there's no need for a new visa to play for us (if he's got his current visa because of his marriage).

Quota isn't a problem we had one space available at the start of the year and Mckinnon has also gone.

| Have slight reservations in signing Chase, not for his on-field ability but his off-field antics but i am still excited by the prospect of him playing for us. On his day Chase is one of the best halfbacks around (aside from the NRL ones) who is available. We have cried out for a top halfback since Jason Smith played for us and now AP is prepared to fork out the money to get what we need. As some have said maybe it might all go wrong 12, 24 months down the line but lets at least give him that chance (if he signs) to prove himself as a change of environment might be just what is needed. Still think we need someone who can organise the team because we have only seen glimpses of that in Seymour and for me that is just as important.

Pretty much how I see it. If the fee is lower than might have been thought it certainly reduces a bit of risk. We've been crying out for a bit of X factor and unpredictability let's hope Rangi can rise to that challenge and deliver these traits - but only on the field please.

| Chase would be a fantastic signing as he's a fantastic player and would add some much needed creativity, which is what we've been lacking over the past few seasons. It's also sounding pretty likely to happen, with it being plastered all over the press and players like Yeaman tweeting/retweeting about it.
However, I still have concerns about him off the field. I'll give him a chance and he'll get my full support when in the Black and White, but he needs to know what is and isn't acceptable off the field and that he sticks to it.
I think he could work pretty well with Seymour, as Seymour's a solid but unflashy Scrum-Half and Rangi's more of a runner. Only issue would be the kicking game as Seymour's fairly inconsistent with the boot (unless we were to sign someone like Kearney from Bradford for fullback as he has a good kick on him).
