Whilst I agree, what I also saw (certainly in the first half) was big improvements to a few areas we struggled with last year, one being the kicking and the other our attacking play, particularly down the right. We certainly aren't the finished article and there are a few sort out, but I still think we are miles ahead of last year, with a much better squad, there is no reason we shouldn't improved on last season.

When the going got tough when KR were coming back at us and then had their purple patch I was looking at the personnel on the pitch thinking where is the spark coming from to get us back into the game? Whilst in the first half when we were in the ascendancy any number of players looked as though they could step up it had seemingly all changed and no one looked up to it. It wasn't a physical thing , or anything to do with lack of effort it just seemed to be that mentality that we've seen for a number of seasons now and seemingly regardless of who's wearing the shirt or coaching us. Maybe it was the interchanges , maybe we "ran out of gas" because of the penaltly count and lack of possession? I hope so but it did all just seem very familiar.

I think all the over analysis is a bit OTT for a pre season friendly. I'm looking at it as another good run out for both teams, in a more intense atmosphere than you'd normally get in a game with no points on offer,

So its really good prep for the Hudds game. Even if we lose v Wakey it's no biggy for me as long as it helps the team in fine tuning different combinations and set moves, defence and 80 minute intensity. Just can't wait for SL to start now.

Agreed. I'd definitely not risk Watts or Ellis but with the spine of the team available and a week off I'd go with full strength elsewhere for the first half and see how it goes. To me Green, Bowden and Feka need to up the ante to compete for two places.

Totally agree about these 3, if we are to achieve anything this season it's individuals such as these that need to put in good/effective spells while on the field. It was noticeable on Sunday that when they (and a few others) were on the pitch the intensity of our play drop markedly.

I thought Feka did OK and looked up for it but agree that Green looks ineffectual - no change there for me - whilst Bowden seemed quiet/flat?

I'd welcome 1865's view on BTW's readiness, but IMO we go with Paea, Watts, Feka and one of Bowden, Green and BTW.

Green and Bowden arnt very good anyway. No top club would have these as their main forwards and they could be our undoing as the season progresses.

Depending on injuries and so on maybe Thompson will be used there.

A lot of over analysis of prop performance in a friendly. Most props take a few games n getting a bit match fitness into them before they hit there straps. Bowden been training the house down apparently n if he can make more improvement from last yr to this as he did the yr before he'll go alright imo.
