As I said I will judge on a reasonably full strength side. Because yes ulitimately some of this is caused by our lack of half back options (and lack of a full back at the moment). If Jordan Turner or Richard Whiting could have played on the right hand side I suspect we would have looked better than Briscoe or Manu playing centre. As I said before I havent been any more impressed by the first two games of the season than the next man - merely I am prepared to give Agar 5 or 6 games when at least we have a half back pairing and a full back at least.

Indeed. It's obvious that the problems on our right hand side are not down to an individual player. Someone like Whiting might rescue a few situations with good decision making, but our right hand centre and winger - whoever they are - are constantly being left exposed because of our defensive structure.

So you think IF we had had Tansey at full back on Friday night (or in Cardiff) and the luxury of say Berrigan - therefore allowing Whiting etc. to play in the positon they have been training defensive patterns all pre-season we perhaps would not have won? Is it so difficult to see that defensive line ups dont just happen overnight and when on the eve of the new season you find out that Tom Briscoe or Willie Manu are going to have to play there this is what is going to happen?

You're missing the point, yes Long and Horne missed a lot of rugby BUT it was always on the cards that that was going to happen, it wasn;t bad luck it was the over reliance on a No6 with known health issues and a No7 who was 'getting on a bit' and had a worsening injury record at his previous club. That was last year so thats maybe forgivable to then go into the following year and not adressing the problem is the unforgivable thing for the coach / club.

But it was bad luck. Shaun Long was out for most of the season because he got hit on the elbow tackling one of his own players. If he had been 20 years old the same thing would have happaned.

I wonder how long it'll be before Obst starts at 9 and Houghton has a go in the halves, your team selections are a bit like school football when a keeper gets sent off and they all decide who fancies a go in goal.

He is now injured again, he is not 20 years old he is in his 30s. Saints would not give him a 2 year contract because of his increasing injury problems, yet Agar did and he came off on Friday injured, do you see a trend developing here

Would it tho', he will be unlucky this year with his achiles, last year his elbow the year before his jaw etc... The older you get the more likely your going to miss games and the longer the recovery will take. I'll have a bet he misses a minimum of 8 games this year.. If its down to luck you must fancy your chances.

Well I presume Richard Agar. Who would you have played at full back in Cardiff? Jordan Tansey? And who would you have played at centre? Shaun Berrigan?
