Pretty sure I heard during an interview with Radders on Humberside before the Rovers game that Carlos will start 6 and we are signing a young project type player (which I'm 99% sure he alluded to being a 6)?

Could Gaskell be classed as a project?

Think if we signed an established NRL half, it would be the final piece in the jigsaw.

There are 3 choices,

Sign an overseas half ( but not sure the have the money)
Sign a project either a reserve grade NRL player or someone like Gaskell
Go as we are, leaving some money and an overseas spot in the bag, just incase.

If we are going with Carlos at 6, then we need to get Abdul and HTW signed on as Carlos has been a bit injury prone and I still have seen enough of him to be convinced he is good enough at 6, if he isn't then we have two young halfs as back up and that's what people want isn't it, to give youth a chance, surley next season is the time for the likes of HTW and Abdul to step up,

Or keep Pryce on a reduced deal?

if we are not signing a 6 then i think it leaves us very thin in that department if we have any injuries, dropping Washbrook to 6 is not the solution and i`m not convinced with Abdull as he appears to have gone backwards in his development, not signing a 6 could very well come back to bite us on our backside

I'm not sure Abdul has gone backwards, he hasn't been given a chance this year, he is only 21 and has work to do, sending him to a decent club like Fev will help, were during his 4 games he had got 2 MOTM's and some good reviews from their fans.

It is a gamble but we do have two young halfbacks and will have money in the bank and a quota place.

We are doing ok this year as we are light in cover at hooker, AP & his staff feel confident in what we have so let's just see.

Just out of interest, this bloke who's name you were given as a signing, what happened with that? Was it more of a longer term target, or is that fact that Carlos has done alright made the decision? I think it's smart to give Carlos the rest of this year to prove himself.

I don't tbf, but if I was to have a guess he would be a 6,7 or 9.

The fact that Carlos & Sneyd have potential synergy gives me confidence. I hope Carlos goes well for us over the next few games because ateotd, some partnerships take a season+ to develop and ours has had sporadic matches through one season so let's wait and see.

With all due respect, and don't take this the wrong way (well not too far anyway), wasn't it you that were saying only last month that we would all be very happy with the half the club were supposedly looking at?

If so and things have changed, they could quite easily change again. Which sort of rendered the initial suggestion pointless unless names are put out there. Afterall, anyone could post something on the lines of "We are looking to sign a big name player.....but I won't tell you who it is".....

Carlos needs more time to settle into the position before it will be clear if he is the long term solution in my view. I doubt we've seen the last of Pryce either - big game player - so let's hope we have some really big games before the end of the year.
