I think it all depends on our coaching set up come decision time. Bearing in mind that only 50% of his salary counts towards the cap. Must also be cheap seen as the club have taken his match bonuses away.

I don't know King's salary, but the long service concession is a £50,000 maximum per club and also includes Richard Horne.

Incidentally, next season is Kirk Yeaman's 10th season so he would be included under this ruling from 2011 (his 11th season). I'm not sure if Hull still held Gareth Raynor's registration during his spell at Leicester, if so he would also fall under the ruling from 2011 (if still at the club).

Nope. There's a maximum concession of £50k split between him an Horne on a pro-rata basis, so the vast majority is taken up by savings on Horne's salary.

I saw the explanation of this and agree.
However, my addled memory bank is telling me I have read somewhere of a rule change for this, on the basis of promoting and benefitting loyalty? Has anyone else seen this? I think it ended up being half of each players salary would not count?

We'll get rid and he will try and get a new club or may possibly call it a day. Either way I would be very surprised to see him here.

I hope you're right but the main gauge of whether our pack is strong for next season for me will be if Radford is consistently NOT IN IT !!!

Tickle, King, Radford, Dowes all gone will be a very good start to the season 2010 !!

I think that is harsh on Dowes personally, he has struggled because of playing too much, nothing more.

He's been average for the past 2 seasons and wont be one of our first choice 4 props next season. We shouldnt carry the likes of Dowes, King, Thacks, Radford, Tickle, G Horne etc if we aim to be a top 3 club.

Dowes would be the one of those four that I'd keep if only three were to go but, for me, he doesn't offer anything but effort.

He is not big enough, not aggressive enough and has no go-forward. He does his best and gives 100% but just not good enough for me.

Do we want to be a top 3 club, could have fooled me by signing over the hill players!

Radford, King, Dowes, Tickle, Thackray, G Horne, Thorman, Motu, Lee.

If none of those are in our starting 17 next season, we will probably have a squad that can make the top three.

Best add Thorman to that list, just in case anyne has a brain fart!

The players we have signed are perfect to attain the balance of the squad for me. FItz and Long are exactly what weve been missing. We have the youth coming through but then not the senior players currently to attain the right balance of experience and youthful enthusiasm etc.

You have to get the balance right, and I wouldn't describe any of our signings as 'over the hill' TBH.

The problem is that due to poor recruitment and retention we have an awful lot of things that need fixing. You can't do that all in one season, and IMO we've at least started in the right place and with the right types of players.

Now we just need a decent coach.

Lee is the only one i'd keep.
