The other day I made a post from University and then my mate also made a post from the same computer a while later, now I do not understand such technicalities tbh but I am thinking we would have the same IP address from that computer ?
My understanding is that my IP addresses must change depending where I post from, either public or private computers

Yup. From this end you just see the server IP, not the IP that server allocates to the user.

Can we have a post from a mod about IP adresses to clear it up, just so we know what they see and share about IP's

Why?

Karoo does not use static IP's it is server assigned every time you connect, so if you don't leave your router on 24/7 then your IP will change, obviously as they are Karoo's IP's then as Kosh says it could have had multiple results

the mod who named BONES was out of order under data protection laws btw, he could have just said a user without naming and that would have been ok but the im fairly certain that data protection rules are there to protect people and an online ID is considered part of someones identity and thus should be protected to avoid humiliation.

the mod should have some action taken but data protection would also deny anyone knowing if that happened or what had happened.

i'll go back to reading and rarely posting again now lol

Tbh this is more interesting than the new rumours.

Online ID's are considered to be part of "Self" and this is what is to be protected under data protection, defamation and harrassment laws are all wound into this. Even the "truth" can be protected under harrassment laws to a degree, in this case a mod has jumped the gun and made an announcement of what should have been a behind closed doors decision and made it public, this is what is not allowed.

Although most users are on dynamic IPs they do offer static IPs on some packages - I am on a static IP and have been for years.
