this thread is proof (if it were needed) that as soon as anyone is linked with hull they are instantly hailed as 10 times the player they actually are. fielden is garbage and has been for at least 4 years. a signing like him would show how far backwards hull have gone and a positive reaction to it show how backward thinking the "old faithful" are.

fielden isnt the same player he was back in 2005 but as improved to a level were he must be close to a england call up. for me he would be a good signing as long as the money was right, a very good replacement for cusack, and i hope this aaron murphy rumour is true, good young player can play anywere in the threequaters and has pace and can defend.

Difficult one for me this. One one hand we've signed another player that's past his peak, on the other hand we need to replace Cusack and don't have a quota spare so if LMS is going to Saints he may well be the best available to us. I reckon he'll bring a more to the team next season than Cusack has but I really worry about the 2nd year.

Not at all, between Lyne and Tuffour there's one super league appearance. Murphys been one of Wakefield better players this season and can play full back.

Sign Murphy as a back up for Tansey who can then play in the halfs.

Looking at the wakey forum it does say he lacks pace which is a bit worrying, as we lack pace at the moment.

As for Fielden, he is the best prop at the best club, very fit and doesn't miss many games, hopfully we will sign him, a 2 year contract could entice him if Wigan are only offering one year, miles better than Cusack, Dowes and Radford. Would improve our team.

Him, Murphy and another back (hopfully a halfback) and we will have a decent squad next year.

So I was right when I said we just don't sign old men and we have plenty of youth within our squad.

Don't you worry on it Dave, pace isn't one of the major attributes that Agar considers when matching players to field positions.

Is Murphy actually any good as I can't recall seeing him play, if I have seen him I have to admit that he's made no impression on me!!

I think he's alright but I don't remember him being any better than any other of the parade of utility players we've had recently.

Look at his stats on the Super League website and compare them with Craig Hall's. He seems no better than Hall to me.

Not sure if he played for Wakey last sunday but he was out,down Princes Ave on saturday night.

A player that has/had all the ability but sadly wasted it.

Murphy's best position according to my trinity mate is full back, he reckons he could be an international in a few years in that position, he reckons he can do a job at centre and on the wing but he's not the best in either of those positions
