There's no doubt in my mind that appointing Sharp was a big mistake, and has to carry quite a lot of the blame for this season's nightmare. However, it does start to [isound[/i like yet another excuse for Agar. Last season he was being stifled by Peter Sharp, this season there's a whole bunch of new reasons why he's failed to live up to some people's expectations. According to some, Agar is one of the unluckiest coaches in the history of the game.



If Sharp [iis[/i the main problem, and he's still here next season, then we can just look forward to more of the same regardless of how good or bad Agar might be.

The irony is that an Agar/Sharp coaching duo was a Dream Team for quite a few folk on here while we were discussing who should replace PS. How times change.

So it's okay for Agar bashers to have their say but the moment the 'apologists' come on you slag em off.

Yep, five drives and a kick. His main success came when he has a side that was filled with superstars.

The difference is Paul that the [ievidence[/i supports the observation that Agar is useless, there is no evidence to suggest people who think so are wrong.

The point is everyone is entitled to air their views, whether that's pro or anti Agar or whether it's somewhere inbetween.

I would suggest he would need to win at least 8, however a lot will depend on who we play for the first 8 matches.

Also we maybe judging Agar without Sharpe, maybe some-one else, new players these factors will imo change things

I stated at the time the appointment of Sharp was a big mistake and saw absolutely no reason for him being here. He is a dull coach and a dull person but his influence over the team structure is there for all to see.

Very few people thought it was a good idea, apart from the one's who see their FC memories through a haze of nostalgia accompanied by the Hovis music, he was a dull player as well.

Like I say a lot will depend on the fixtures, also we as fans maybe happy with 5.

I do not have a problem with losing, however as these last 2 seasons have proven it is the manner in which we lose. All I want as I am sure many others do is PASSION, PRIDE & EFFORT.

We may win 5 and lose 5 which could be very close encounters with very entertaining rugby on display and I am sure the board, fans, teams and coaches maybe happy with that.

Its certainly not Smiths team, but the other cup finalist Nathan Brown how long has he been at Hudds ? not long i dont think and what a change he has made with what most people would think of as a small unfashionable club

What if at the start of the season he has (not for the first time) a large number of first team players unavailable?

Ive said earlier on the Smith issue that he has got rid of the bad apple and got the superior class in the wire squad to start playing.

on the Nathon Brown issue he was appointed before the end of last season so had all of the close season to mould his team (of which 11 where new signings which blows the not his team out the water IMO)

Yes there is but you just don’t take it in as you believe differently.

Many have talked about the rugby we played when agar took over the rains when Kear left, but you don’t even take this as evidence that he can get a team playing ?
The main argument is it was the team playing and nothing to do with Agar but when we say it’s the team not playing this year its Agars fault Mmm.

When Peter sharp came over he admitted that he changed very little as agar had and was doing a fantastic job.

But again you don’t take this into account you have your view and everyone else be damned.

We all blamed the atrocious injuries last year for our poor performances yet its been worse this year but again that’s Agars fault.

At the begining of the year we had our best ever start to a superleague with lets face it a poor squad and six injured and no Crocker but of course this was nothing to do with Agar it was the poor opposition.

I think it is you that cannot see the evidence right in front of you.

Just my opinion though and there will be another thread I am sure where you can inform everybody of your opinion that Agar is out of his depth.
Especially if too many start to disagree with you on this one.

....i think the team do have that..its maintaining it thats the problem.it cant be much fun getting battered all over the shop week in week out and then getting the crowd on your back is it any wonder heads go down..passion pride and effort will only get you so far.theres no substitute for quality..which sadly in our team we dont seem to have much of.but all that could change next season with the new people we have coming in i have faith in agar/sharp i just wish a few more people did instead of all this doom and gloom and lynch mob mentality.....

The thing with that is, the first game v Wigan I believe were also understrength, we won by 8, at full strength I don't believe we would beat them on their muck at this stage of the season.
v Celtic some on here said we was lucky to win, we won by 8.
v Catalan, who again were at under strength, we won by 14, again both teams at full strength I doubt if we can go there and win.
v huddersfield, we got a couple of very iffy calls, we just won by 4, last weeks result says it all.
v Bradford, just about everybody has beaten them this season, so no great thing there.

Our start , although pleasing to have the points on the board the performances weren't convincing. had we played like that throughout the season we would still have been where we are now.

So he has been the head coach for less time than Agar, plus Agar has been at the club for a few years now and should have known the bad apples here eg Thackray who he resigned for this season,

Most of the squad have played internationally, have been part of our recent successes or have played at the top level in the game for a number of years. Have they all become poor players at the same time or is there some other factor driving things?

The squad we have is certainly more talented than the one Brian Smith took to the top of the old 1st division
