I listened to the Pearson interview he was not talking about Michaels he was quite definite when he said we are looking at an outside back and a number 6 he was asked about Michaels and said yes he has already signed that's just waiting to be announced officially after a couple of minor things are sorted exciting times, someone told me Manu may have to retire due to an illness but it wasn't anyone at the club so not sure on this one

But it did seem funny when he said the reason we did not hand Steve a contract is we did not want to tie up a quota spot but he also said we where looking overseas for a 6 which would indicate a quota player , so there maybe something in the Manu rumour hope not and I hope Manu is fine been great for us, come on wire at weekend and we get Melbourne what a great fixture that would be im buzzing

I did wonder earlier in the season how a player like Kelly would fare in a structure like the one we have.
I reckon Radford could knock him into shape, but I suppose we've been shipping out players that have discipline issues.
Still think Kelly could be a really decent player in the right environment.

Kelly's been sacked from every club he's played for. Wouldn't want him near our club and I doubt radford would take on someone sacked by our nearest and dearest

An overseas 6 won't come cheap so if Pearson specified another outside back I wonder if it might just be an up and coming young un to maybe fill the boots of Michaels the season after next - was thinking someone like Will Oakes at Rovers who looks a class above the departing Lancaster, has pace to burn and scores tries for fun. Guess he's technically out of contract after relegation and would be a cracking signing IMO.

Pearson said Michaels already done so the outside back is in addition to him. Certainly implied signings that would further underline the club's ambition. Bit of a surprise , thought we were done.

A couple of questions:
Do relegated overseas players count on the quota- I think they do, there was something with Crusaders once and exemptions, but think that was different
Are overseas quotas the same for Championship clubs? Just thinking if so, Rovers would have to release some players potentially unless similar exemptions apply to relegated clubs?
