| The fact that the game was on a Sunday is not imo a factor in the crowd being down. Lets face it cowds are down period, this season. Do we maybe look to playing on Tuesday afternoon insted?
Its simply a case that the faithful are picking and choosing matches now. The sooner the club realise that we are not buying into the team 100% at the moment the better. We are at best the 7th best team in the competition, yet we are top 3 off the field. As a result if its on Sky the floating spectator will stay away.
I thought it was also interesting that the club were promoting the club shop massively prior to the game. Handouts etc. Is the shops takings down? I suspect it is. Yet despite all that promotion the shop was shut at the final whistle with people queing to get in. Lost sales there as well I am sure.
Until we get consistant form on the pitch which is in the positive not negative then the crowds will be down regardless of the day of the week. Lets face it even the derby crowd was down copared to last season when it was played on a Thursday night. Does that make Thursday's the prefared game day?
I went yesterday with a bit of restored faith after the current run. I have now noticed that unless we get to Wembley thats me done for the year. Don't do away games anymore as its too far and expensive to go for me (other than Quins) and I can't make Friday nights and the one Sunday league match we have I am working and refuse to alter my working pattern for Hull FC anymore. The Leeds cc game is on TV and guess what........my licence fee has paid for my viewing.
Before anyone has a go,If saving cash and lower my blood pressure makes me a non supporter then I am happy with that. I have dedicated enough of my time to the club to feel happy that I have done my bit. But until my ambition is matched by the coaches and the BOD then I won't be going the extra mile and at least 3000 others are thinking the same.

| Making the East Stand fully reserved has clearly had an effect. Something had to be done with regards the north east corner but the club have used a slegehammer to crack a nut.

Has it though? Or is that just an excuse which can be brought out. The main effect on attendances is the dross on the pitch. Simple as. And a 5 game unbeaten run is not going to mask the disappointment of the previous 3 years. Its very hard to build a following, but very easy to lose it and the club have lost 3000 faithful this season. With it also the off field merchandise. In my household alone they have lost a few hundred in admission fees, three replica kits and T shirts. Having reserved seating is a very very small factor if a factor at all.

Well we've been pretty poor in the main for four seasons now. In 2009 we lost 8 from 13 at home but the average was 13,226 only slightly down on the previous season.
Clearly the cumulative effect of year on year poor form has contributed to the fall in attendances but I still feel making the full East Stand reserved hit season ticket sales which of course means those people have a reason to pick and choose games.

| Yesterday summed up the last couple of seasons for me. We're not getting hammered, because the individual commitments of the forwards mean we're generally in the arm-wrestle. It all goes t!ts up in attack, though, because when we lose key personnel we don't have a system to fall back on that people can slot into. IMO Agar is safe to see his contract out so the lack of killer instinct that is instilled by the likes of Smith, Brown and Maguire will mean another season of targetting 8th and praying for a lucky cup draw. Some people (I'm probably one of them) will continue to go as it's their abiding passion in life. For others, 8th is not a cause for celebration and not enough to part with £25 every fortnight, particularly given the PR machine touting us as a top club, when clearly we're not, on the pitch at least.
The club needs to pay attention to this. They clearly believe Agar is the man to take us to silverware, and that when that day comes, the KC will see 16000 fans in every week. The flaw in this plan is that every season that goes by with unfulfilled potential means floating fans are lost and find alternative things to do with their weekends. Also anyone believing a team can win the competition from 8th needs serious help. Which leaves us with the cup, where we've not beaten a SL team for 3 seasons. Crikey, bit depressing, isn't it?

You do realise that the comment about playing on Sundays was tongue in cheek, don't you?
Multiple causes for the drop in attendances IMO. The financial situation for many families that continues to worsen, our poor form at the start of the season and lack of confidence that we've turned the corner, and the East Stand being all reserved. In addition yesterday's game was on Sky on a Bank Holiday weekend leading into Half Term. And Hudds brought a handful.
Unless we have a sustained upturn in form I can see attendances remaining low or dropping further. Unless we either reach the CC final or do well in the playoffs I can see the situation continuing next season. When money is short people make more hard-nosed choices about where to spend their cash and sentiment goes less far than usual.

| To be fair to the Giants fans, half the people in Huddersfield were sat in Old Trafford so a low turn out was to be expected.
When watching the games back on TV, the East Stand is looking more empty every time you see it.

And as for Huddersfield - their turnout was pathetic.'"
After reading over the Giants board it looks like a fair few of there supporters went to Old Trafford for the kiss ball..!
I know no excuse, however they have on some occasions looked like increasing there fan base with the cheap season ticket offers, they are slowly getting better on the road..! Remember a few seasons back there were less than 100 of them...!
As for the south stand very disappointed..! Think sky was a big factor 2..

I realise Kosh.
I personally see it as simply a question of the playing performances. If we were competing on the pitch consistanly and not just raising or game occasionally then all the factors that you mention would be negated. Yes recession is biting, yes some might want to get to the East stand 1 hour before ko and choose a seat, yes it being on a BH might effect it, but regardless of all this and KO date, the stands would be full with a decent team.
For me it will get worse as looking at the shape of next years squad I see no improvement unless that is we get a new c.... but thats not going to happen.

I think after the unbeaten run of 6 the board will be satisfied and keep him until at least the end of season, totally agree with the point about the east stand...!!
As I'm away I can't reallyjustify buying a season ticket..! I now sit in the south stand when we make the trip 2 KC from sunny Norfolk...!
I was one of those who would get there early and get a decent undeserved seat in the east..!

You could have all the TV / Radio advertising that you want, the simple facts are that we have been sold spin over many years now and bought into it. The deal though was a con as the side have under performed massively. Christ we don't even have injuries to fall back on this season.
The money the club have spent on spin could have saved with a decent c....
I actually blame losing Airlie night on KCFM.

| i think there are two factors, many supporters believe the clubs only ambition is to make money with winning silverware coming a distant second (even though success on the pitch makes money) and the fact that over the last couple of years price rises in everyday essentials has made things like rugby a bigger luxury than it was, people will pick and choose. if you are paying on the day with a couple of kids in tow it's very expensive.

But like fools we bought the spin in 2009, we are no longer buying it. Until we get to a consistant top 4 team I suspect the crowds will deminish or at best stagnate at current levels. I think the BOD are starting to recognise that now or at least should be.

| I'm one of those who has stopped attending, and it's not (at least not only) about how good the team is. I started going in the Sharks days, so I was hardly enticed by the good times, and I was a season ticket holder up to and including 2009. I still went every other week for those 2 terrible seasons in the bottom 3, and went to most games of 2010. But it's this team I don't want to see or feel any attachment to, even with a slight upturn in results and apparently performances. They are not 'my team' in the way they always were. I didn't even bother to watch the last 2 home games when they were on Sky, never mind go to the ground, which was a stage I never thought I'd ever get to. I've been growing more apathetic year on year, and have only the slightest shred of interest remaining. The killing blows are the patronisation and spin that come out of the club in recent years, which I feel reveal just how stupid the board must think us fans are if they expect us to swallow it all.
