What a privilege it was to watch him play for Hull FC last season.Cant wait to see him in action again.I just wish he was with us for a few more season's.

why what happened ???

Should this season go ok I am told he may (MAY) run one more season with us because he and the gang are very settled here and then go back to a coaching role in Oz.
A lot depends i guess on injuries he picks up because his fitness is never going to be an issue as he is as fit as any man i have ever met so lets hope huh as we always look better with him in the team thats for sure

There was that much stuff doing the rounds at Donny I didn't pay it much attention, but one of them was that Long had supposedly been disciplined for boozing, nobody seemed to have any details mind (which is typical).

IIRC,it was stated that in all the squad fitness tests last season fitz came out on top.I think it was mentioned on sky before a home game regarding this,so proves that age,really doesn't matter.

Didnt hear that one Standee however you know how these things are blown out of proportion but all the lads went for a beer or two after the game and he was there but seemed to drink no more than anyone else and the same bunch drove home from the game , IMO he wasnt drunk at half time ??

to be honest anyone who has seen them train never mind play will testify that he puts in so much more than anyone else and his own personal eating, rest and training regime is exemplary to say the least .
in all honesty if he doesnt get a bad injury

that needs surgery he could have another two maybe three seasons at the top he is that fit and focussed, similar in mentality to menzies from the same school of rugby i guess

Great news, Fitz is a natural choice for the captaincy.

Nothing on who the vice captain will be though.

I would assume it will be Ogre, to take over at the end of the season if/when Fitz retires.

Good move by the club and as other have said should be last year so that Long can concentrate on playing.

In the Liam Cunningham interview before the Donny game you could tell the respect and presence he holds at Hull and RL.

Good to See Liam getting the under 20's job and Hull identifying captains at all age groups.

Hopefully the club will give us more deatails on the 18's, 16's and 15's.

The future stars feature needs an update also.

I wonder, Fitz is only here for another year, we're going to be "going heavy" on recruitment, have we got someone lined up for 2012 onwards who is going to establish themslves as a long term captain? I do hope so.

I think up until 18months ago they had planned for Washy to take it on long term, he's still in the leadership group.
I'd be tempted to see how Westerman would fair.

I think in years to come Westerman will probably get the captaincy, if he works hard on and off the pitch then he would be a good cadidate. he ought to learn as much from Fitz as possible but it goes without saying i guess

How about Houghton as a potential captain?
