Hull have made no progress.

It's time a decent coach was appointed and smarter recruitment decisions made. The entire season now pretty much rests on a CC semi upset. Looking at the remaining fixtures there is a danger hull could miss out on the playoffs.

If we want to be a top club then we need to get a top coach....hes not proven himself and we gone backwards this season with the exception of the cup....and this is his team he has assembled!

I know you're feeling a bit doom and gloom, but we've got Widnes and Salford at home. Surely we can win one of those. And Saints at home.

People seem to think we've been been convincingly the worst side. We've lost all these games (other than Catalans) in the last 5ish minutes. We've always been in a position to win. That's pretty important, and that's a lot more than we've had at times in the past.

We just need to translate that into actually winning. We're still unsettled in the halves. But our players also don't have the intelligence of what to do on the field themselves. Tom Lineham running into touch on the first was criminal at such a crucial part of the game. Briscoe picking up "nothing" instead if making a tackle. Yeaman cutting off Briscoe from on offside position to pick up the ball. Westerman infringing a Bradford player as McDonnell makes an excellent leap for the ball to take it. I could go on. It's these brainfarts that are costing us week in week out. How do you address that? Answers on a postcard please.

I thought gentle did a great job last season. he came in, moved on some deadwood and then galvanised what he had left and improved over the season to the point where we were winning games well with a rag, tag bunch of players he threw together.

Fast forward 12 months or so and we've one backwards at an alarming rate when you consider he now has a squad of players he has chosen and fewer injury problems than plenty of other teams in SL.

You can point to us losing key players in ellis, holdsworth and horne for chunks of the season but they don't account for us being as poor as we are IMO

We've beat North Wales, Wakey at home and scraped a result in France when we weren't quite as awful as our opponents.
I fear we might get our @rses handed to us next week.

Complacency in the players?

Tbh i was thinking about that...we have had a easy run in...more luck i guess...

I know what you're saying regarding Gentle's interviews, but like I've said before, what do you want the man to say? He's said we're poor, not good enough, not smart enough, disappointing, etc etc.

Yes, the coach plays a massive part in the whole process, but what he doesn't do is:
Block a player off from a bomb - Westy.
Run into touch with the ball - Lineham.
Go for the intercept instead of the tackle - Yeamo/Briscoe, and Whiting last week.

I could go on. These faults are by the players, at crucial times in the game, often leading to tries. Not the coach.

He could get angry and let the fans know he means business, at times he seems to erm gentle.

I am more interested in on the field tbh and no runner, no support play, lack of ideas with the ball all come from what happens in training.

Could have been worse, we could have drawn London, scraped our way into the final and everyone would have been hailing gentle as the saviour of the club

Our attacking structure is dog-turd, that's our coach's fault.
We won't be going anywhere soon unless it gets sorted.

Agreed, our attack is turd.

Every team makes dumb decisions at times every week. It's the fact that we're so bad that these suddenly get magnified and seem to be the issue. The real issue is the total lack of any structure and us not doing some fundamental things when we have the ball.

Someone else has mentioned that we've only lost these games by small margins? So what? We've lost games we should be winning comfortably

Well as a fan i'm not convinced he scares the players and I always feel a coach needs that ability. Otherwise he has no power.

Not sure gentle capable of sorting it. I think we would be better with horne and holdsworth but that would be down to the individual players not the structure of the team. Teams who rely heavily on individuals go to pieces when they're not available.

Not saying it isn't, even Gentle himself admitted that. Last night was our worst attacking display I think I've seen from us in a long time. What I'm saying is this massive brain farts the players make have lead to us losing games.

We've lost the last 4 league games by 2, 1, 6, and 7 points. Very frustrating.

He doesn't need to scare the players, he needs to inspire them

We have no clue what goes on behind closed doors, you can be polite to the media and still have power.

True, I think he needs to do both.

You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to be complacent after our performances this season.
