Pride and passion should be the norm from a group of individuals who earn more than £70 grand a year each on average
I didn't go yesterday (although I almost gave up my self imposed away match ban because I didn't have much else to do ) , and it sounded as though we should have won. The focus today should be on why we lost and what we need to put right next time rather than people being happy to be gallant losers

I was going to go, then I realised the 6 Nations was on so I didn't bother, wish I had now as it sounds a cracking performance.
I agree, one of the biggest questions from yesterday is why we took the 2 when we, seemingly, had Wigan in trouble, did Houghton have a bit of a dummy spit about it and what where the consequences. I also have to question what was done during a warm up that triggered Moa to have an athsma attack, and what can we do to avoid that happening again, if anything.
Discipline is an issue, and that comes from the coach.

| It seems there is a fairly clear divide of reaction to yesterday's game between those who went and witnessed the performance and those who didn't.
The support at the game was superb and I'm not surprised that those who went, on the whole, have reacted by backing the team's performance in the aftermath. I left the ground absolutely gutted that Tickle's kick shaved that post the wrong side - we deserved something from the game. It went a bit wrong in the last 10 with knock ons and 4 consecutive penalties against - some for infringements that had gone unpenalised for 70 mins and one when we were in possession at the ptb. But the performance deserved backing from the fans and it sure got that.
To those that didn't make it I'm sorry you missed a good, spirited performance which indicated that hopefully more wins are in the pipeline - should that be something that is of interest. The side will be better balanced with Phelps in hopefully we can kick on now and move up the table.

I believe the 2 was the right option - I'm not entirely sure Wigan were as stretched on the rack as some think - that's opinion obviously. It took us 8 points clear and most fans there were calling for it I think. Good point about Moa who was missed - as was Ogre after he couldn't return.

What I'd like to know is if Tickle had kicked that goal would as many people still be ranting on about how we still lost and it's not good enough etc etc. Wish I could have made it, but by all accounts we really pushed the champions and challenged the top side in the comp, something many of us didn't think Hull had it in them.

| Quote ="Superbowl Scott"By the sounds of it nobody can question the effort from the players but it also sounded like we bottled it when J.Tomkins got sent off.'"
Not sure we bottled it, but if anything we seemed like we were trying too hard to win it. Washy's knock on could have happened to anyone and Lauaki's offload to no one was stupid, but it was good to see a keenness from the players. At last! It just needs a bit of calming down and sensible play. You can't score off every play.
The sliding defence on the right is a big problem and this needs addressing as a matter or urgency/
On another issue, does anyone know what the penalty for the tackle on Sam Tomkins (by Briscoe, I think), down the left hand side late on, was for. Surely if the ball has bounced you can't be done for a tackle in the air just because the defender jumps to take the ball? If so, tactics for Friday must be take the ball up and as the defence close in, leap in the air. Penalty every time

Isn't part of the problem the fact we play "percentage football" so when we are creative it's almost a shock?
I hope Agar doesn't coach Phelp's undoubted attacking ability out of him.

Your son isn't a professional sportsman with a dedicated team doctor and physio, IF there are lessons to be learnt then we need to learn them.

Not doubting it at all Andrea I'm sure the attack was pretty random. Glad it was dealt with in the right way by taking him out of the line up.

It isnt like its affecting him every game so i reckon the club staff are dealing with sams ashtma in the correct way.

But it's not 10 pages of rejoicing. Had it not been hijacked it would probably have been 2/3.

| Like i said yesterday i came away from the game happy with the performance, and i can count on one hand the games i have come away happy from in the last 2 seasons (2010-2011). Not a world beating performance by any stretch of the imagination but there was a lot more good points in the game than bad points.
We still look dodgy when a team ships the ball wide and Wigan could well have scored a few more if it had not been for some inspired defence by certain individuals at the most opportune time. The kicking was poor for the majority of the game but we did manage a few decent ones.
Wigan were definitely under strength yesterday and we SHOULD have beaten them, but confidence is a big factor in sport as well and our confidence is probably pretty low. However a performance like that can sometimes do wonders for a team and give them that self belief they may be lacking.
I also think that the crowd got behind the team a hell of a lot more than normal and that will have also given the players a boost.
Yes we should have won it in the end, but IF!!! the team can build on that performance and improve on it then we may finally see some light at the end of what seems to be a long and very dark tunnel.

Always seems to be our right hand side too!!!
I thought the atmosphere, was fantastic, with everyone shouting and singing all through the game, and that certainly helped the players, because they seemed to thrive off it.For his 1st game, with no pre-season,i thought Phelps, had a super game, nothing startling, but looked solid, and seemed to enjoy encouraging his team-mates.Obst and Horne looked like they are starting to gel quite well together(though i still expect Long to walk straight back in to the team, right or wrong!!).Overall,i enjoyed the game, and was gutted when tickle missed the penalty,as a draw, would have been well deserved.I just hope we can put in a similar performance against wakey on friday.

Yep. But there's a big difference between drawing with the champions at their own ground, and losing against them like most will.

Sorry Jimmy they do, it is very clear we have a problem if we have only won 4 out of the last 13 games mate...and things have clearly not improved, 1 out of 4 is very poor, nearly winning is not enough in this game.

| Without trawling the whole 12 pages would I be right in saying that everyone should be proud of the effort of every player who played on Sunday and maybe the players are pushing themselves that little bit further? But in the scheme of things long term we are in the same situation as after the Hudds game?
