Last season at the last CP derby we were in the Golf stand with about 1/3 Hull, 1/3 Rovers and 1/3 empty. South "stand" had about 500 Hull. Assuming a similar pattern happens this year, then at 2011 prices:
Guestimate income =#004040800 @ £18 North plus =#004040500 @ £20 South = £14400+£10000= =#004040[u£24000.[/u
If Hull was given the North stand for the derby as is the case for all other away fans the Golf stand would sell out, and say the 400 or so Rovers fans who were in the Golf stand last year had to "view " from the South "stand" then:
Guestimate income =#0000401300 @ £18 North plus =#004040400 @ £20 South = £23400+£8000 = =#004040[u£31400[/u
It does not make economic sense to persist in forcing Hull fans onto the ferries at inflated prices. It's almost enough to make you think Hudge is a bit unbalanced when it comes to Hull.
It would also be interesting to see how many Rovers fans would pay £20 to stand in the South "stand" given the second scenario. I know I'm been disingenuous here, though. Of [icourse[/i they'd "rally round the Robins" whether it's hailing or calm in the Humber, binoculars at the ready to support their team come what may.

And those that are there being as far away as possible. Voices carried away on the air exiting the wind tunnel out into the Humber. Yes, you're right.
Think people have cottoned on to the fact this year that anyone can buy Golf tickets, though, if you can brave the shop to buy them. Can see us taking the North stand regardless of Hudge.

Whilst it looks like that, it is at odds with the statements made by Rovers CEO about using the derby as a sellout game to help attract sponsors. Perhaps Rovers fans can ask him about this inconsistency in the fortnightly "Meet the CEO" video update/Q&As he promised from February.

The attendance for last season's derby was 10,089, which was within 150 of capacity. How can this be with 1/3 of the North Stand empty (400 seats) and only 500 Hull fans in the South Stand (which is 1,100 less than capacity)
By your assumptions, the gate would have been 1,500 less than capacity (less than 9,000).
Your sums dont add up pal.
PS: Yes, I have just returned from the pub!

| Hudge's desperation for brass for his club must have reached a peak to allow Hull fans to buy as many "North Stand" tickets as they want.
He must have known that putting it on the internet that the tickets are on general sale would ensure it would sell out and probably the big majority of fans in there would be black and white.
Goes against his normal chip on the shoulder tactics but then I suppose that's why he's shoved the King George Dock tickets up to £20 to balance things out.

| This thread gives me that deja vu feeling... all over again.
Once Grudge FC (who gave him that nickname? Perfect.) can move on from whatever it is that causes him to be obsessed with trying to put one over on FC, he might realise that "friendly rivalry" and banter is better for the city of Hull, Rovers themselves and RL in general than the vitriol and childish spite that seems to drive his strategy. If FC fans were treated fairly by him, we'd be there in droves to support our team regardless of how far from the pitch we would have to stand (look at Sheffiled - terrible ground but we all used to turn out). The atmoshpere would still be great. But whilst he continues to treat us with disrespect and scorn, many will stay away from that awful stand instead of packing it out to help to make the derby day what it should be for both sets of fans - an electric atmosphere from both sets of fans packed in to the rafters (of course he would have to add some rafters as well).
Perhaps if he'd upgraded the facilities instead of trying to bring the biggest signing ever to the UK's shores we wouldn't be having this debate again. Poor old Justin Morgan: a coach who, until recently, was much vaunted for his ability to get the best out of a team is now hamstrung with a large portion of the cap going to a man who isn't allowed to pull on the shirt and, if I understand the rules correctly, should not be allowed to play again for Rovers this season. Whilst taking Cooke from FC severely hampered the club for several years it did the same to Morgan's team that was built around a completely different kind of playmaker. Rumours abound that he has also tried to unsettle many other FC players to attract them over the river rather than concentrate on supporting his own talented coach in building a team around =#0000BFhis rugby vision. AFter all, Morgan is the expert in that field, not the Grudge. If Rovers are to be allowed to progress as a team, Grudge FC needs to take his obsession with his rivals in the west out of the equation and allow Morgan to take back the reins... and he needs to do it quickly. Then he needs to deliver on his promises relating to upgrading the facilities on offer at NCP. Let's face it, the better the facilities, the more people want to visit - look at Doncaster compared to what it used to offer. Better still, look at the KC. Hw many more people support the team since we've had these facilities?
However, I suspect that he would sack Morgan before accepting that his envious meddling is contributing towards the demise of his beloved club.

To be honest, you probably get a better view of the game listening to Chris Park than you do from the Humber end.

It almost makes one think held-back figures were added to the official attendance that day to keep the sponsors and creditors happy ! The South stand was less than half full and the Golf was about a third empty. I trust mine eyes rather than Hudge's manipulations.

I guess those documents dont mean a lot mind given their recent exploits huh?

Not a lifelong fan, but been going since 1997 when I was introduced to the club after moving to Hull. To be fair, it reminded me of non-league football at the time! 1500 gates and lots of passionate quirky people. I'm sure they are all still there, but I'm surrounded in my spot of the East Stand by people I never saw before 2007.
I've learned to live with it though, it happens to all clubs. Do you expect Widnes to average 3,300 next season?
