You've said you don't rate Rule in the past. Not up to the job at a big club or summat like that. Got the after-game sit-in roster ready for this season ?

I really don't believe that, I believe Hull were interested in him, but what would Crusaders gained from selling him? and if it was agreed why would it have suddenly fell through?

| Phelps can basically play any position from 1 to 7 and also does a good job at hooker too.
He's a clever signing IMO. Im surprised its took him so long to find a club.
If it wasnt for S.Tomkins, Amos Roberts, Pat Richards & Darrell Goulding at Wigan he would still be here. Who can compete with that though? Also id say if he was English he would still be at Wigan.

| who is in charge of getting the players highlighted at Hull. I thought the job of the coach was to highlight players they want and convince them when they have permission to speak. Surely when a fee is involved it is the boards who is responsible if you cannot gain permission to speak to the player. Hardly Agars fault

I don't think anyone who posts on here is really 'in the know', they merely know someone, who knows someone, who....etc.
What I do know is the club have moved quickly to cover a situation that arose unexpectedly.
I also believe that they have been trying, hard, to cover the other issues, but that, for whatever reasons, it has not been possible.

| So yesterday the club no doubt found out they could officially sack a player and release that information into the public domain. Only 24 hours later we have signed a decent quality full back. Without doubt in the last couple of days the club priorities have changed from a BACKUP half back to a FIRST CHOICE full back. I am not sure how anyone can either complain about either the descision or the player we have managed to bring in under those circumstances.

Fair enough, I do not know the in's and out's, plus there is no way to prove it.

| Phelps will be a top signing for you. Within a few games you'll see hes a better player than Tansey. He'll also provide you cover at 6 which you seem to need as that and fullback is were he played for the Aussie school boys.
Phelps IMO last year was the victim of unfortunate circumstances, he started the year extremely well starting the season as our #1 and in the first 2 games he was really up there in the assists league through some slick passes whilst chiming into the line and also a few delicate short kicks. Then his bad luck came, he got an injury in the second game whilst playing well and Amos Roberts got his chance at fullback and completely ripped it up over the next few weeks and was a clear contender at MOS so Phelps was left behind even before he recovered. Then Roberts got injured and Sam Tomkins got moved to 1 with Cameron still struggling with injuries which meant Phelps was never going to get a look in.
He can also do a job at wing and a slightly better job in the centres from the little game time he got there when injurys hit.
Just for abit of insight here are the reports from the first two games of last year first V's Crusaders and look at how Phelps was involved.
[urlhttp://www.wiganwarriors.com/WMatchP.aspx?page=report&id=161875[/url
The second game may please you it was against KR look at how instrumental he was before getting injured ...
[urlhttp://www.wiganwarriors.com/WMatchP.aspx?page=report&id=161882[/url
Just looking at them two games you can see what potential Phelps has and how good he could be for you.

| Good signing stright replacement for tansey ,we should get one of the tongan lads off quota is what im hearing so still could have room for sammutt if the welsh outfit get there exspected players from aussy waiting for a visas,
i think we are still in the hunt for sammutt the clubs must have agreed a fee on sammutt if he was going to sign a few months back ,it was only the lack of cover for them which stopped it ,wen there players get here he might still be comming ,we have the cash from berro and hopfully the quota place with the new ruling on tongans from the mason signing ,
i just hope he gets here quick where really short in the backs ,that charnley lad looked good who rovers had on loan last year maybe a loan signing in the backs
just praying we stay injury free if we do ,long is still one of the best in sl at halfback

Hit the nail on the head. No matter what the club do, some would complain.

Simply put - yes.
I think he's a good signing under the circumstances though.

Didn't realise there was one. Ask seb if you're planning one, I think he was touting it last time. I'm generally in the boozer by the time any sit in would start

| I'm happy with Phelps in fact we should have signed him some time ago pre Tansey's departure because he gives us for a year what we were looking for , cover at 1 and across the three quarters as well as halfback if necessary. He's a seasoned professional and even had Tansey stayed would have freed him up to cover the halves and hooker. My only concern is that no matter which way you spin it Phelps was the only player left for us to sign and we're at least seen to have left doing so until there was absolutely no other option. I hope he proves that we were wrong to wait so long.
