Our club never learn, I hoped Pearson would have a different stance however I fear not, when the Seymour saga hit Pearson basically dismissed it and mentioned he was done for drink driving when he was young!!
We are a rugby league club, not a rehabilitation unit! If we have a player who goes off the rails with the ale fair do's I am all for supporting, helping and 2nd chances, but why on earth do we bring them in from other clubs is beyond me!

As for Aspinwall, well... that's his first warning. Tansey got a few as well. One more and he's gone IMO. We knew what we were getting ourselves in for when signing him, and it would seem more incompetent of the club to just get rid now than it would if we tried to reform him.

Saying that, it's not been fully revealed what he's done so it could be worse than I think.

Good player on the pitch for Cas last year and I was gutted we didn't offer him a new contract. I was pleased he got a chance at a SL club like Hull and hoped he'd turned his life around. Hopefully he's not been too silly but how many more chances does this guy get.

Hopefully, whatever happens with this investigation, the RFL can get involved to help this guy out with his 'off the field' problems. He obviously needs help and I hope this sport has learnt lessons from the past.

Were they in court (if it went there)? Do they have access to police notebooks and court papers detailing the [uexact[/u nature of the incident? Do they have a copy of the player's contract deeming what, if any, special disciplinary measures may be in place for this sort of incident, on an individual basis? Have they spoken to Adam Pearson/Peter Gentle/Shaun Macrae? Have the club decided action (other than suspension) and told the BBC, whereas the official line is "no further comment" ?

All depends on what is in his contract. We gave him big chance and he has thrown it back in our faces before the season has started. Why should he get 1/2/3 strikes he should be binned, the fact it comes just a few days after he was saying he is a changed man etc in all the major online papers makes it look even dafter.

The only positive I can put on this is that the annual 'pre-season disruption' has come pre-xmas, and if he is sacked we have time to re-think our plans before the season stars.

the re-signing of Mike Burnett also means we would have cover in the 2nd row, and we also can play Whiting there if we had to. So it woulden't be a massive loss.

still baffles me why so many RL players attempt to throw their careers away though, particularly at an economic time when alternative employment isn't exactly plentiful.

im sorry but to lay the blame on the new regime is a bit harsh , im sure if you went through the league most clubs will have someone similair . im sure the club would of explained about last chance and all, its the man himself who should look in the mirror and the possibillty of the dole ,everyone likes to enjoy themselves its how you go about it , ive seen in the past a certain warrington player round hessle and to say what an ---hole in drink is been polite , but as he did not get into any bother nothing is said . but to blame the club is a bit ott

It was a pointless signing that was highly likely to end in tears given his assault charge and then the dangerous driving offence.

In my eyes if he is guilty then he's had his chance and should be shown the door. He's not worth the bother or the bad publicity.

Well the "old regime" indulged Raynor, Tansey, King, Cooke, Thackray, Brough, Jason Smith, Maiava (?), Maloney, Berrigan (apparently) and brought in Long, Gleeson, Westerman and more recently Brett Seymour. Seems that a new broom just keeps sweeping the same old problems into the squad.

It's a totally different game now though, and especially in an underperforming team I am absolutely astounded that they are allowed to drink during pre-season training so close to the season start. there should be a complete ban and then everyone knows where they stand.

Spot on. The list of players in trouble over the last 7-8 years seems longer than for other SL clubs. Can't think that Wigan or Leeds have as many transgressors as us? Until we get a grip on this, we can't really expect a different outcome.
