Hally will come in next week to replace Briscoe i guess. Not sure how near Tuffour is but i cant see him stepping past Hall for a game.

As much as I like Calderwood as a player I think he is picking up too many leg muscle injuries and it will continue to happen for the rest of his career (see Michael Owen for more details). The fact we only have a finite amount of money we can spend on players means we simply cant afford to have them sat in the stands for extended periods. We need to recruit in the backs for next season anyway and I would be looking to replace him if possible.

Dont faff about bringing a untried player in....that worked well last time we played Salford didnt it....Hall to come in on the wing...simple really.

Would take Golding....not fussed on the rest and please god no to Sherrife...simply awful player.

People go on about Reece in that game but Hall has had worse performances on the wing than that this season.

True. Which kind of makes a mockery of the opinion that one bad performance away at Salford somehow proved Reece wasn't ready for SL. If he was fit I would have him back in the team again without any worries.

Was having the conversation the other day about Tuffour. Think he's about 22 now and we were saying that at the minute he's behind Hall and Lyne for a wing spot. It may be Tuffours last year at FC if he doesnt break through.

I said the same when Reece was brought in for the Salford game ahead of Tuffour. Just why is he even at the club if he is that far down the pecking order? It's not like he is a young kid with loads of improvement in him so is he ever going to get a chance to play? So far we have used Whiting, Hall and Reece ahead of him so its seems unlikely he will ever play for the first team.

i would hope that they would use Lyne (maybe Tuffour, i suppose he should be given a shot at least) over Hall. Lyne had a dodgy game at Salford but that's the only chance he's had. if Yeaman steps up and has a strong game then i don't see why Lyne shouldn't have a decent one as well.

damn shame about Calderwood being out for longer though. aside from him becoming more injury prone, he's been fantastic for us in defence and attack. i think if Whiting was his centre instead of Hall we would have got more tries from that wing. Calderwood liked to tap the ball back from the air which Hall was a bit timid to pick up at times.

Must have missed that. I saw him have a slightly better game than normal and come in second or third man on Matt King a couple of times. I've never, ever, seen him 'smash' anyone.

No its not he did a couple of good tackles he never smashed matt king at all !

in the end, 1 or 2 good tackles isn't enough to make up for his otherwise woeful defence. not too bad in attack but needs to be a bit braver really.

I was sat fairly near to it and Matt Kings face said he'd well and truly felt it!

The original point been, his defence is getting better and he's looked weaker on the right wing than he has on the left. If he comes in for Briscoe next week he'll be on the left hand side of the pitch where he looks more natural.

His technique definately is. Not sure the mental side of defending like reading the play and sticking to his man rather than ball watching is. He seems to tackle more with his shoulder now though rather than waving arms.

The biggest problem is when he just jumps out of the line , his reading of the game is a weakness and something that is hard to teach

He is a sort of tackle pet at present on the training paddock, getting better by the day too but is still young and he will learn (kung fu)
