| chase has been poor the last couple of seasons so it would be a massive risk to take him irrespective of any behavioural issues. I'd rather stick with what we have

| Not disappointed to miss out on BJB but its a bit of a slap in the face when we lose out to wakey, the hdm says wakey paid a transfer fee,so if we wanted him why didnt we get him ? For me missing out on carney is much more of a disappointmen,it almost seems as though british based players dont want to come to us. COYH.

It also says that he was more likely to get his position of choice at Wakey which I think is FB and a better contract (maybe longer?)
I think we have made the right decision not to pay over the odds and wait and see who is available, might also give us a chance to see more of the likes of Lancaster and Naughton, who maybe like Logan will show they are ready.
On Wakey I agree with other posters that they are building a good little team, will be interesting to see how they go, personally not convinced by Smith, he has been out of the game for a few years and last season despite bringing a few players, didn't improve them too much and still hardly won a game against SL opposition and scarped past most of the championship teams. I guess we will see next season.

Bit harsh, thought he did a decent job to be fair, considering what he took over. Completed his goal, keeping them in super league

I think Webster would have done that, big test this year for Smith as they owner has really backed him with recruitment.

Definitely. Can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't want to join the dominant, all conquering Hull side. He's probably gonna miss out on a couple of Super League titles now.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I had us tagged for a good cup run and just maybe squeezing into the top 4. 2 Super League titles will do for me. ![ROCKS k020.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//k020.gif)

We might not be all conquering, but we miles ahead of Wakey and have just about finished above you every year in SL. If we wants to play in the middle 8's again and play against the likes of Sheffield and Halifax instead of the top teams, then that's up to him.
I would say the same if a player choose us over Leeds.

over ambitious maybe, I think he believed like many of us, we are club that would be challenging. We've had some great players over the last few seasons that have probably thought the same

Comments like that really set us up for a fall. We are a mid table team at best so far and have no right to make comments like that it just comes across as arrogance and as we have more resources available to us it's obvious that we should be better equiped than Wakefield.
And if the money offered is comparable and it saves you a good couple of hours travelling a day why not choose Wakey over us?

Noooo! Don't be silly. He wouldn't have wanted to go out winning a treble. Retiring struggling to make the 8 is what a complete champion player and bloke like Ellis wants.

From 2006 to 2012 Wakefield spent most of their time in the top 8 or very near under Kear and Agar's first season, managing 2 top 8's and a few 9th plus a CCup semi. Not brilliant I accept but hardly the picture of abject failure and cellar dwelling you try to depict.
Carter has spent 3 years restructuring the clubs finances and now we are in the position to spend up to the cap for the first time in 3 seasons.
Also don't you think Brian Smith as Coach is something of a draw card for players?
You're an odd one as when you visit our forum you're nowhere near as bombastic.

I actually think Carter has done an excellent job, although like Pearson has made mistakes.
Anyway he has chosen Wakey and is a decent signing, as I've said you have the makings of a much more competitive squad, although I don't see you fighting for the 8 still.
I guess we will see how these players and Smith do next season, but if you are anywhere near us in the league, then I will be very disappointed.

That to me is the key thing. Smith still is an excellent coach and did a cracking job keeping Wakey up at very short notice. On the other hand weve got Radford who has done very little with superior squads at his disposal. That in itself could sway a players mind

No, he left Rovers. Ended up at Hull.
From what I heard, Hudgell blocked his move to Hull 2 years ago.

I was only trying to make the point that a player that had an offer from a more successful team (Wigan) decided to join Hull because he wanted to be nearer home. No different to BJB. As Dave K said BJB has no ambition then it follows.
If as you say his only reason for joining Wigan (and having to make do with a double winning season) was because Hudgell blocked his dream move to Hull then I'd question his ambition even more than BJB's.
In all honesty I doubt Hull were even seriously in for BJB, can't see why he'd go to Wakey with all its ongoing issues when the safer long term option was with you. Travelling 50 odd miles (probably with other players) surely can't be that big an issue
