There's not many 20 year old halfs in world rl organising a side.

He's got a few years to learn his trade and shouldn't be rushed.

He'll be 21 next year, age is no barrier as far as I am concerned.

I'd go Williams/Obst and see how it goes, the season is pretty much over if we don't try something.

Tommy Lee was the stand out half of his age, he's only now playing half decent at 7.

Tommy was rushed through and bigged up which didnt help.
We have the perfect opportunity to bring some of our kids in gently.. Williams been one of them. I'd like to see him given a game during Longs ban. (rather than Houghton playing 80 mins with Obst at 7)

At least that way if Williams is out of his depth Obst can step in, but we need to give him a chance.

Dave I'm not saying don't give him a run but to be expected to be our starting half next season is a bit extreme.

If you look at young halfs who come into first team they have a experienced ball playing 6 next to him to take some responsibility, we haven't got one.

Indeed, no point giving the lad a game at Doncaster then not bothering again, Lee's problem wasn't that he was rushed, he believed his own press.

I wouldn't expect him to be our starting half either but then we've never seen him play competetively in the 1st team, maybe he could be? Same with a few of our other kids. Without trying them we just don't know.

Just to use Saints they have Gaskell and Lomax playing in the halves. They aren't doing bad.

I've got some sympathy for Tommy, hyped up, believed it, young kid in the media, decent income to splash about etc. The club need to take some responsibility for the way he was handled too.

If a player is GOOD enough then their age means nothing, it amazes me we'll pay good money for okd stagers who are past it but not try the kids out.

My only concern with Williams getting into the first team would be Agar coaching the talent out of him.

He's really come on this season apparently since signing his full time deal. Interesting though that it's likely he wouldn't have been offered one had we been able to recruit better externally.

They going well mate, if saints lose Pryce it will be interesting to see if they go for anyone.

They are of course marshelled by Roby and Wellens.

Tbh I would give Williams a game when Longs out, he's in full time training and should know the plays, it would mean minimum disruption to the side.

Think Nicklas' injury had more to do with it tbh.

Thats the club Hull FC is these days though and has been for a few years now. The youth teams dont produce enough quality so the club signs ageing aussies and past it SL players to try and keep us on an even keel but this does nothing for the club in the long term. I can almost guarantee that the process will repeat next season and the next and so on. As a club we need massive changes, from board, to coaching to the whole ethos of the club and until the our current board are gone and we get someone with passion and an interest in Hull FC to own and run the club with the chance of that being next to zero so this is what we are stuck with indefinately imo.
