Disgaree, he was poor in the Rovers friendly, (his defence),and was indeed substituted, like you say he was ok in Saints, I assure you I would like nothing better than Rich to hit his straps again, however I doubt he will and I am starting to believe it is the psychological effects of his injury, if you watch him the majority of the time he tackl,s opponents up top, not below any-more, the problem is he does not have the strength to do this so is batted off, and the fact remains he will be [uone[/u of the higher paid SO's in SL.

Are you sure he was substituted due to form? Is it not more likely that as it was a pre-season friendly Agar just wanted to mix it up a bit?


I've expressed similar concerns about his future myself. No need to re-write the past or make a bad situation seem even worse though. The number of people exaggerating just how long Horne's form has been poor for is getting ridiculous (not saying you are one of them). Most seem to have forgotten that he missed all of 2008 for instance.

True but the one he made for Dowes was actually the wrong play (I know that doesn't seem to make sense as we scored) as Dowes still had to power over the line IIRC but if he had missed Dowes out we had a walk in try. TBF my recollection may be clouded

TBF I dont think he had a great 2007 either but then I prefer a HB to be able to pass the ball anyway. As I've said previously when he was able to use his other weapons (Pace, Footwork, Fend) it wasn't such a problem if he had an organiser who could do all of the other things but I still think it weakens the side not to have an extra ball handler at SO especially if your FB and LF are not the best passers of the ball either.

He needs to improve his form but it's not like he has been awful, the partnership between him and Long looks to have real potential imo.

We all know the parts of the game that he cannot do and that he certainly isn't an organiser nor a leader on the pitch. This has never really been a problem in the past (given the right HB partner) because he has always had many attributes to his game that have more than made up for this ie. pace, strength, line-breaking ability and being a genuine and natural try scorer. Unfortunately, these attributes appear to have all but left him which leaves us with a contracted and highly paid player that isn't fit for purpose.

Another example of our ridiculous retention policy of recent times. Sharp or Agar take a bow.

Take a bow son, had to be close for mom. Looked strong and sharp all the way through and had he had some more support could have created more tries for us. Cracking try!

Looked a lot better tonight and started to show glimpses of his best at times. Took his try really well and put in some good kicks. Hopefully this will now give him the confidence to hit the top of his game again.

Much better performance from him all round. Took extra responsibility this week and it showed. What he needs now is consistency to reproduce that level of performance week in and week out.

No, he didn't shut anyone up, what he did was prove he still has the ability, what he needs to do now is show it consistently.

Rich has always been someone who performs when he doesn't have the pressure of being the "go to" man, hence why he did well with Long in the previous games, he'll serve us well with an able General next to him.

Horney took plenty of criticism on here during the week so its only fair to praise him for his improved show last night.

Hopefully his confidence will have taken a boost.

i was pleased to see him have a good game. he looked faster and stronger too, i hope he can keep improving and get back to his best
