| Shaul is probably missing an aspect to this game to make him an international, but is a very good SL player.
I don't think his defence is too bad, against Catalans he made some great try saying tackles, he is probably no worst than any other SL FB.
I still think there are improvements to his game, but very happy to have him as our FB.

that isn't how he plays, we've had some brilliant attacking fullbacks over the years, but I don't that's Radford wants either.
it's still early season on heavy ground though, we wil have to see how the next month goes I guess.

He was excellent. Three very handy centres at the club, all bring different qualities.

| Thought Griffin was outstanding today. Got us on the front foot so many times bringing the ball out with the power of a prop

| not only Bonaire a few others as well, always thought he was a decent signing and now looks a very good signing, think he was carrying a groin strain last year, as you say 3 good centres but for me griffin and tuime atm are the starting 2,

| Griffin is like an extra prop. If carlos is back on Friday I'd play griffin on the wing and we will lose nothing coming out of backfield

Thats the way I would go too.
If only we could somehow create a Griffin/Connor hybrid. He would be the best centre in the world.

| Could Griffin become our left 2nd Rower to replace Minichiello. He says he prefers the left, but Carlos has to be the starting Centre on that side

his speed and playing style are suited to second row, that is clear to see.

The question marks for me are on his defence as he seems to have lapses in concentration and might lose the collision a fair few times 1 on 1 vs some bigger men running at him - both fixable though. In attack no question, he can be a devastating runner.
At Centre I still don't think we've seen the best from him, and he probably hasn't received great service either. I'm glad his form has improved after a shaky 1st season, he's been a stand out in recent weeks.

| imo thats putting a square peg in a round hole, griffin is a centre and that's where hes been doing well, yea now and again if we have injuries on the field he can do the odd stint but not fulltime, we have to replace mini if hes going with another second rower, up to the other players to owst griffin,

Have to disagree with you about Griffin been just a centre.
He had his best game for the club against Wakefield because all aspects of his play were good including defence which has been his weak point.
There is no doubt his play has improved over the last month particularly his ability to make metres thats why i still see him as a second row as his strength, size and running style would make him difficult to tackle as a second row running wide.
No doubt he will start on Friday with Connor on the bench so at some time its likely Connor will come on for Griffin and Griffin will come back on into the second row to give Mini or Sika a break but i would like to see Griffin given more time in the second row and get him fit for the extra tackling and running with the ball you have to do as a second row.
You may disagree but just watch when Griffin starts to bust tackles from the second row which i think he can do.

| Ellis started as a centre and moved to 2nd Row. Do you think people at the time said it was putting a square peg in a round hole? Griffin has more traits that suit a 2nd rower, IMO. I don't think he can create space for his winger, produce an offload, have good acceleration and can be exposed in defence. In the 2nd row we can utilise his power, his line running, his long stride

Plenty of other examples Kirmond, Aspinwall, Wardle and Luke Lewis.
I think it's certainly an option, something maybe to try in a fe games this season and certainly in pre season

I'm pretty sure that both Griffin and Connor will start in the backs on Friday

Not sure Dave
If Sika Manu is fit he will tighten up the right edge and then can see Jack Logan on the right wing partnering Griffin and Connor starting on the bench.Radford seems to like having Connor swap with Griffin and Griffin coming back on late into the second half to give a bit more impact into the middle when we rotate Mini or Sika.
like you though for this game i would rather see Griffin on the right wing and Connor at right centre so we can have a bigger bench.

Westwood was another centre turned back rower. I agree with those that say Griffen can play back row in the future, he has all the attributes for it.

| Whats pleasing for me is that Griffin just got his head down, listened to the coach and worked on his game and earned his place in the 17. Its also interesting reading article the HDM, Radfords comments giving Griffin early ball in space suits his game so hopefully we will see this more often now.
