| Quote ="Staffs FC"We have won only one trophy since 1991. Hardly grounds for claiming that we've been successful. So how did we achieve the A grade licence on that basis ?'"
Because the CC win and the GF appearance and consistent top 6 finishes (1 point), increased attendances above 10k( 2 points) and turnover over £4m (1 point) took us from a grade B to a grade A. Do you think we'd have achieved these if we'd been fighting relegation every year?
Do you really not understand this or are you just being awkward to try and look big and clever?

On the other hand St Helens, the most successful side on the field in recent SL and CC history only achieved a B grade I believe. So success on the field is clearly not the be all and end all as you claim. Incidentally despite all the gnashing of teeth and hand wringing from the likes of yourself we remain 7th in the league and in a playoff spot - enough for us to obtain the point for contributing to the competition as the new playoff structure stands. This despite another crippling injury list and visa issues. Ou crowd average will be well over 10K this year.
If Hull slip to a B grade as a result of falling crowds and league finishing position in the next couple of years then so be it. As far as I know that will still qualify us to play in the top competition. We have a superb community and youth structure, we play at a top ground and we have a large base of committed fans who will not walk away when the going gets tough. Maybe not 10K of them but 7-8K have the stomach for it. We will remain competitive as the import quotas tighten and our younger British players gain more experience. The club needs to combine that with the recruitment of top quality overseas signings which will hold up the crowd levels and improve performance. Despite poor performances this year we are 2 maybe 3 players away from competing in the top 4.

I'll leave the trying to look big and clever to you you're a past master at it I can see. How's the revolution coming along by the way ?

My post was about Hull, not saints. st helens is a town, Hull is a city. Our potential is way above saints in terms of crowds, comemrcial opportunities etc. Anyway, I'm sure if their council had given them a shiny new stadium they'd have got top marks too
Quote ="Staffs FC"So success on the field is clearly not the be all and end all as you claim. '"
I can't think of many professional sports clubs who have thrived without success on the field. There are plenty who have disappeared or fallen off the cliff though. Prudent and professional management need to run alongside the success but I'm not convinced we're doing that particularly well at the moment either.

True, however 4 points from the last 18 means that we're going in the wrong direction and the final league positions aren't decided in May

I doubt we'd be operating at maximum cap with crowds of 7 or 8k as we don't have a sugar daddy who would pump in the £1/2m or so needed every year to sustain it. That would leave us anable to compete for the best players and struggling to keep hold of our top talent
Quote ="Staffs FC" Despite poor performances this year we are 2 maybe 3 players away from competing in the top 4.'"
Pretty much every team is 2 or 3 top signings away from being a top 4 side
Quote ="Staffs FC"I'll leave the trying to look big and clever to you you're a past master at it I can see. How's the revolution coming along by the way ?
'"
I think you've got the wrong man there pal. I'm not one of your revolutionary types. I know that no one else will come in with enough money to buy the club and then pump a stack in to make big changes. All I want is for us to appoint a chief exec with the experience and qualities required by our club and a coach who sends the team out to win games rather than one who's sole aim is to try and bore the opposition into submission

| Well the proof of any survey is what people do about the results. If they dont action anything visibly and transparently to improve issues being identified then it really is a waste of time.
In reality im expecting the club to see poor results and then expect us to forget we were ever asked and hide them.
Best practise would recommend they come out and honestly tell us the scores, tell us what they are planning to do to improve them and then keep us updated periodically. Wont happen though.

Quote
(From Hull Daily Mail)
Hull FC's Supporters' Association chief Karl Hutchinson says John Kear's departure has left fans feeling extremely isolated from the club and its board.
Hutchinson, who is chairman of the independent group, has revealed the majority of fans are frustrated at the growing distance between them and the Hull FC directors.
And he told the Mail that while plans for a mass protest at the KC Stadium on Friday have been put on hold, the black and whites faithful are less than happy with every aspect of the Kear saga.
"The thing that has most upset the fans is the board's handling of it and the timing," he said.
"Immediately after the news came through there were a lot of people saying they would protest against Leeds.
"The mood has calmed down somewhat now and I don't think anything will happen inside the ground.
"But there is still a lot of anger over the way the club's directors have treated John Kear and the supporters.
"At no stage did they say they had a problem with John. There are a lot of communication issues with the directors - they never seem to speak out at the right times.
"The fans' anger has been half to do with them getting rid of John and half because of the way they have handled it.
"John had a lot of backing from the fans. The guy did win the Challenge Cup for us.
"The board said it was to do with results after the cup final, but everybody knew that winning it affected us for a few weeks afterwards.
"They said the aim last season was to win a trophy and win a play-off game which he did.
"This year they wanted a top-three finish but now we will never ever know whether that would have happened.
"Of course we had a bad start but a lot of the games could have easily gone the other way given a bit more time, or a bit more luck.
"On top of that we lost our best player in Richard Swain and we have badly missed a couple of others in pack." Hutchinson accepts that some of the protests directed towards chief executive David Plummer may have been misguided as the shareholding directors are the ones who should be held to account.
But he says their claim that fans should be grateful of their efforts to save the club five years ago smacks of hypocrisy.
He added: "To be fair to David Plummer he has been very honest and said that he is not a shareholder.
"But he has taken a lot of the flak because the likes of Kath Hetherington have been so quiet.
"He says we should be thankful for what the board did with the merger five years ago.
"But I would say they should have been thankful to John Kear for winning the Challenge Cup last year, rather than getting rid of him.
"There is a real distance developing between the club and the fans. We feel like we are just the club's cash cow and they do not care about us at all.
"We tried to get one of the directors to speak to us about what was going on at our AGM in February.
"But not one of them would come. We feel extremely isolated at this moment in time." Hutchinson says the fans' dismay will not prevent them from supporting the team and he said most supporters have already decided on the man to replace Kear.
"We'll still be behind the team 100 per cent," he added.
"What we need now is a strong character who has Super League experience at grade one.
"People are talking about Steve McNamara but I don't think he has got enough at this stage in his career.
"The fact that he is a Hull lad might mean he is too close to some of the players as well.

At least as a fan you stood up and said something. And just to take the urine even more out of you all, looking at all the parts I've picked out of the article, what has changed in the three years since?
They are, a disgrace, simple as.
