Hard to say with his lack of pace full back isn't ideal for him, but with the discipline required and the fact that most teams' halfbacks initiate set plays and conduct the rhythm of attacks, his off the cuff, instinctive style did not work well for us when he did try 6. I still think centre, the position in which he was picked for England against NZ, was where he did a lot of good stuff and I may be wrong, but the England boss at the time was Smith, I think.

The game that sticks in my mind is this one (he came on as a sub I think) where he is definitely playing as one of the halfs.
