As good as Manu is he's not a patch on Ellis.

Offers a lot more to hull, we have workhorses, we have no one like Manu, who is our best attacking player.

Will be on lot less money and never gets injured.

Personally I rather have manu, hopefully we will have both.

I agree you can tell teams see Manu as a genuine threat and number up on him, to lose him would be a massive mistake

Ellis has been superb in attack for Wests, I to would rather have both though.

He realizes I would stalk him no matter where he goes! so he figured he may as well stay

Really hope Manu stays he is a great player how seems to be improving each season.

Don't know the guy so don't know how much money will be a factor however, in the next couple of seasons we should be able to provide him with more winners medals and one of those nice gold rings.

Wasn't tehre some comemnt from pearson about the fans telling manu he should stay? Presume from that the club weren't taht confident at the time.

Me too, at first it was a no brainer and I expected it to be announced quickly, the club did too I think. Now his agent is looking at options means we either up our offer or risk losing him. AP's comments about the fans letting him know how much we love him smacks a little bit of desperation. I'd hate to see him playing for anyone else.

To be fair though if my memory is not playing tricks the same thing happened with Tickle, that seemed to drag on.

ATEOTD if we have put a value on his worth to the team and his agent or Manu himself thinks he is worth more and can get it then it depends on how much Gentle values him and the part he sees him playing in what he is trying to achieve.

So far Gentle has failed to disappoint so all we can do is put our faith in PG to do whats best for our club.

Hopefully Willie wont wanna go and will sign but as it is likely to be his last big deal he should in all fairness weigh up all his options.

There's no doubt the Ellis deal will have put some constraints on what we can offer to existing players. That in itself may have prompted other clubs to think they could outbid us for Manu's services. You couldn't blame him for wanting what is probably his final deal to be a good one. It's a short career.

I love Willie and I really hope we can keep him, but if I had to choose between the two it's a no brainer.

I agree with the point about trusting PG. He hasn't steered us wrong so far and I expect him to find a way to put all the pieces together to make this an outstanding team.

End of the day money talks and if he wants to go somewhere else for money then its upto him isnt it or he could stay and play his part in the revoloutin that is going on at our club.End of the day...NO player is bigger than the club and look what happend to the last 2 players who legged it for more money.

Would be very disappointing for him to go from the point of view that he should be our number one priority to retain IMO, so keeping him would join the Ellis capture as another signal of intent. Gentle has said several times that recruitment begins from within, and his departure would possibly go against that.

It's strange how the chronology of events affects their reception. If Manu had always been leaving and Ellis was the replacement we bagged, it would have been massively positive. Conversely, with Ellis in the bag and the possibility of them both in the same side it would be a big loss now.
