There are just as many rubbish coaches in Australia as there are in the UK you know!!
If they are that good in Australia they will stay there unless they are drawn by money and for me money is not a good reason for someone to be attracted to a job. The challenge and prestige of a job like Hull should be a bigger factor.'"
Because the "up and coming" british coaches have proven they're not up to it. The fact that agar, macnamara and mcdermott are even mentioned as England coach says it all

| I think we are a long way off the taxi call, not that i agree with myself, but Rule will ride this one out a bit longer, we have Dennis in reserve so the options are apparent.
However Good Friday becons, if the slide continues and belive me we are sliding, then the beginning of the end should start.
The players were naff last night, the coaching descissions worse and no emotion, when was the last time you saw Agar bellowing instructions down the mouth piece, more like ordering his Pizza to collect on the way home.
I'm not looking for a hair dryer coach, but i don't see any head to head type descissions with Dennis on match days, we can't seem to adapt when the game plan fails, or if we do, it's far to late, basic stuff realy, you have to point the finger at the coaches.
At this point in the season we should be seeing the team gel and move forward, we have'nt had any realy major injuries (i'm touching wood) so why are we not seeing this, we are a better team than good game bad game team we are seeing, for me that sits firmly at the coaches door.

| Agar is quite clearly clueless. Where is the gameplan? Where is the motivation?
Personally I'd have fired him mid season last year but with the recruitment and removal of dead wood I thought he should be given a second chance. However, it is clear that he's just not up to it and should be removed as soon as possible to stop another season going down the toilet.
As for even discussing renewal of his contract, that would be comercial suicide!

| Talking of contracts, we have started to talk to a number of players i understand.
Contract talks, poor perfomance, does that ring a cord, either those spoken too think it's in the bag or those that haven't are 'P'd off, something is wrong, deeply wrong in my oppinion.
Friday has to be a new start, one way or another.

It's not just one result though is it?
Agar's tenure has been littered with poor performances. Catalans at home and Wigan, Bradford and Rovers away in 2008. Most of 2009, especially Cas and Leeds away, Huddersfield at home and Salford in the Cup. Three times already this season.
We will not win every game but we are regularly not even competing.

I think the two Leeds games are key for Agar now, especially if we lose twice over Easter which looks likely.

| I think Agar should be greatly looked at by the board come full time Easter Monday. Its two huge games and will be interesting to see the player responses to last night and Good Friday. He is always slated on motivation and rightly so and Easter needs motivation more than anything. Heres to a interesting Easter.

No it wasnt, but in my opinion with the right attitude towards the game we could have still walked away with a win yesterday despite what you mentioned above, of course the coach cant be held responsable for individual errors but the general lack of ideas and negitivety that has been on show throughout Agars time in charge was there to see, even our good home form is simply based on grinding out results, thats what we do, we dont play particularly well even when we win, for what its worth I think Agar would be a good coach for a side who lacked the resources and players that the better teams have but we dont fall into this category he is not the right man for the job, the resources he has we should be able to out play teams especially the likes of Crusaders and Salford but all we do is go up the middle and hope for the best with no flair or plan B, and some of the comments he makes publically are questionable to say the least, I know it gets brought up often and is maybe blown out of proportion but his comments about not really watching or concenrating on others teams are laughable when you consider our past two away games the coaches clearly pin pointed what they think are weaknesses in our side and done a job on us.
On a side note aswell his vendetta against Craig Hall is simply pathetic, ok he had a poor game against Wigan (all be it out of position) and cant have any arguments about being dropped, but Yeaman and Briscoe performed just as poor last night and will keep there places, the players must pick up on this and it cant be good for morale.

| Are people seriously saying that 5 from 8 wouldn't have been seen as good enough at the start of the season?
It is a very tight league nowadays.
Seems like wins are almost as bad as losses for Agar, as they just raise expectations to unrealistic levels and make losses, when they do inevitably occur, seem like disasters. Hull were poor last night, but they have been excellent in other games by most accounts.

Apart fom the Saints game we have not been excellent, very similar to the five games at he start of 2009 in my opinion we did enough to scrape through games. Had it been a new coach fans opinions wouldnt be as strong as they are because as you say it hasnt been a disasterous start, but when you are told that the previous two pathetic seasons were simply down the coach not having the players he wanted, yet still turning out the same dross and excuses with "his team" im afriad he wont be given much patience and dosnt deserve it, he made his bed by spouting all the rubbish about dead wood etc and how things will be different with different players now he has to live by it.

| This new look Hull FC team should be going to teams like Salford and Crusaders and giving them a thumping. I expect wins at teams like that to be around 30 to 40 pointers with complete domination. I do expect Hull to lose games but expect them to play well even when they do get beat. All teams have blips in the season and have a loss of form however Hull have made this clueless rugby their trade mark over the last two seasons. I expect rock solid performances every week from the players we now have at the club but I don't see that, what I see is a group of well paid players running around like headless chickens and I account blame for that on the heads of the Board and coaching staff. Sean Long and Fitz etc are world class players but they come to Hull and something changes. We have lost 3 games now, we have won five games, only the win against Saints was a good performance, the rest of the games the cracks started to show. I fear the worse for Hull unless things can be turned around...that starts with the search for a class coach to replace Agar whenever he goes back to coaching teams like York!

| I`m not a fan of Agar I think he is not the man to take us to the next level.
But we have won games this season that we could have lost . Saints away, Hudds and Bradford at home could have gone either way.
More worrying is the teams inability to put so called "lower" sides to the sword.
5 from 8 is about right looking at the opening fixtures , but after beating the better sides 7 from 8 should be on the board.

| As long as Agar stays, we will have this same thread every couple of weeks because apart from grinding out some good results, we are going to continue to underperform with this baffoon at the helm of what is, let's face it, a very good squad which should be capable of a top four finish.
Put Morgan, Brown, Smith, McGuire, McClennan etc.. in charge of our squad and I'm sure that we would have some kind of silverware within a couple of seasons. With Agar, we're going to blindly stumble from one mediocre performance to the next with a few very poor ones thrown in.

| For me, its a fairly simple equation: Is our coach the man to guide us to the level of success which we should be attaining? and the answer is a resounding NO.
I laid out my reasons for Richard Agar being the wrong choice of coach two weeks ago (on the previous "Agar out now" thread) but a basic summary is as follows. We play in the best stadium in SL, currently have the second highest average attendance despite more than two years of watching dross, we have, I believe, one of the two highest income & merchendising streams within the British game and we were one of three clubs to be awarded a grade A license in 2008 (primarily for the reasons listed above). It must be obvious to all but the most blinkered that these advantages are clearly not being transferred into an eqivilant level of success where it matters most, on the pitch with first team wins.
A club of our size with the level of support and attendent income that support will generate could and should be challenging for honours year on year on year (as opposed to the odd decent cup run every 3/4 years). The other two clubs currently holding grade A licenses (Leeds & Warrington) are also the clubs currently in possession of silverware. Wire lifted the CC despite having a coach who inherited a dysfunctional Underperforming squad of players turning them into trophy winners within four months of arrival. Not for him the lame excuse of "its not my team".
We should be one of the teams that the rest fear, one of the teams that everyone else looks at before a game has been played and says "they are the ones to beat if you want to be champions".
Surely, that cannot be anyone out there who honestly believes Richard Agar is the man to take us to the uppermost reaches of the game.
We have improved on the performances of 2008/09 due to changes in playing personnel, but as last night proved, some glaring deficiences still remain. It would be harsh to sack a man when we have 5 wins from 8, but long term he is not the answer. We will be no higher than mid-table with Agar in charge with erratic performance levels remaining as the norm, no matter who the players are.
In the short term (ie the remainder of this season), I'm afraid we've made our bed and we're going to have to lie in it. A top class replacement is unlikely to be available until after the end of the current campaign and our options for the coming months are severely limited. I'm not convinced replacing Agar with Moore will alter a great deal. The issues which have raised their head once more this weekend where there for all to see 12 months ago and should have been faced up to and addressed at that time (as in the case of Warrington who took decisive action about this time last year and appear to be reaping some rewards as we speak).
Until the board take a long hard look at our performances on the field since October 2006 and take appropiate steps to put this club where it should be, then we are destined to have this discussion over and over again. And the first step in that direction is the search for a top class coach who will harness all of the advantages listed above and turn them into a highly successful team. It will not happen overnight as the first team squad still requires a further injection of quality, particularly in the backs, but until we grasp the nettle and address the issue of the head coach, we will continue to go round in an endless underachieving circle.
This is not a knee-jerk reaction to last nights appalling performance, I was of the opinion that Agar would be the wrong choice when leaving the Stoop 24 hours before Peter Sharp was fired. Indeed, I posted a thread as long ago as May 2007 in which I stated that we had lost a glorious opportunity to establish ourselves as the number one side in the British game. A situation which we have continued to compound by a series of bad choices/judgement in the boardroom, in player recruitment and most of all by the appointment of Richard Agar as head coach in May 2008 which condemmed us to another wasted two years.
A grade A club should be producing a grade A team, but that situation will remain out of our reach for as long as we persist with a grade B coach.

| 2 games for me. must win one and both perfomances need to be 100% better than recent ones.
If not put Moore in charge until a top replacemnet can be found.
It would cost Hull money to sack Agar, but they will lost a whole lot more in Season pass sales if we carry on like this, the Hull fans patiance has been excellent the last 2 years, but it wont last much longer.
