Pearson must honestly be wondering what the hell is going on. He has done everything asked of him financially and yet he is seeing literally nothing for it on the pitch. At the same time, much smaller clubs with no money, no facilities and none of Pearson's aspirations are embarrassing us.

Where does he go from here? Will he put it down to bad advice/implementation form McCrae/Gentle? If he does, where would he find new quality people that he can trust with his money?

Lets start again. Staffs FC wondered if Gentle wanted rid of half the squad. I then wondered if his team selections suggested that, given that they have been pretty consistent and are largely made up by players that have either been signed, offered contracts, or promoted from within during his tenure. You've now suggested firstly that he possibly didn't want the players coming in, and secondly that he's still regularly picking them anyway. I'm not following you.

To add to that, we saw last year that Gentle did not hang about getting rid of players he didn't want. That's another thing that puts doubt in my mind that he doesn't want a significant amount of these players.

And who said anything about not changing a winning side? You pretty much said the opposite, that players would be dropped if we were winning, so effectively are being kept in because of the very fact that we are losing. That's just fundamentally flawed IMO. A player either deserves his place or he doesn't, it shouldn't matter whether you're winning or losing.

Agree that that often happens, but I'm still not sure how it is relevant to my point. Unless you are saying that he is picking players he doesn't want over players he does on the basis that they have more first team appearances to their name. Crooks over Arundel and Green over Johnson go against that, though.

Issue I have had for a while now is Gentle's excuses after a loss. We trained well etc etc. I'm not sure he has the ruthless streak a successful head coach needs like Wane and Maguire.

Getting a good performance once game every blue moon isn't acceptable, top teams have consistency.

One thing I look at when judging coaches is basics. Two examples of this are passing and support play. Our passing is abysmal and we are way too slow to move the ball. Our support play is garbage, just non existent. Add in a lack of runners when the man with the ball is running at the line and it's massively disappointing.

I look at if a team is well drilled with each player knowing their role, they should be motivated and hungry. Everything should be done with speed and fluency.
IMO, Hull have the players to be one of the better teams in SL but none of the above applies and too many good players are going backwards.
Westerman for example looks badly coached to me.
Gentle never did anything to deserve the job in the first place, he will be gone after next weekend if Hull don't win v Warrington.

You make a good point. Leeds and Wigan both recently played with hardly any pivots but their style of play didn't change and their ability to attack wasn't affected. This is due to, as you say, everybody knowing their role. We looked like strangers.

We've been like it for ages now , The handling is terrible at the club .

I do think there has been a case of "The Emperor's New Clothes" with gentle for a while, with plenty of fans (myself included) ignoring the facts in the belief that the under performance is the exception rather than the norm and that we're on the cusp of being a great side.

Fact is that we are poor in pretty much every facet of the game except defence. Was gentle a defence coach in oz? I certainly don't think he was an attacking one.

I think he probably needs to go but where does pearson go from there? He's invested a huge amount of time and money in the club and to date we've done nothing where it matters on the pitch

When Hay went to oz for a bit and our defence fell apart a few on here felt differently.
