Tansey takes the ball well no denying that and he is pretty good under the high ball, obviously he does not get them all; because the advantage is always with the attacking player. The main gripe for me is his return.
Whiting is opposite lets the ball bounce too much but runs it back well.

I wonder what would happen if everybodys favorite coach Brian Smith decided to play a ball handling full back and a prop at loose?

He'd probably be a genius.

Tanseys positional play and confidence under the bomb will improve the more games he plays there.

Obviously prefer Whitings return but Tansey is better for me taking the ball on the full. Nice to have these gripes though

Don't get me wrong, i like Tansey as a player. I think he has a spark. But going back to the Wigan game, Tansey was woeful yet seems to have escaped criticism at the expense of others. I think Tansey is a 6, have always thought so. I think tonight he looked out of position a couple of times, but did not have a bad game to be fair. Just not sure of him at fullback. I would rather see Hall in the centres, but Whiting is a shoe in for a starting spot, and for me, it would be fullback as he has the brain and qualities that the position needs. Might therefore allow Hall at centre, and then maybe Tansey as an impact bench player. We have a large squad which is good and options, which is also good.

Makes no sense, making more yards then slowing down would be more beneficial.

Tansey has the better return BUT you prefer Whitings .

no you misunderstood. Tansey takes the ball on the full better (IE catching it) but Whiting runs it back better but lets the ball bounce before taking it.

I know so why does he "die" when he reaches (or they reach him) the opposition kick chasers! He got almost the 40 mtre line on a couple of occasions tonight.

You tell me Sticky thats my main gripe with Tansey. If he can improve that aspect and sorting the defensive line out he will be for me the complete full back.

I'd rather have it in the full backs hands then bouncing on the floor.

I dont disagree Sheldon, i just wish he would run it back better. If given the choice i would take the safety of Tansey over Whiting every day of the week. But i feel he can imporve as a player if he just gives it his all when returning the ball.

The sorting of the defensive line will come in time i have no doubt about that.

Just an addition but what compounds the mystery is when he joins the line in attack he doesn't stop or shuffle when running it in.

So he can do it, just as a professional rugby league player he and his coaches have decided it would be better to find his knees and get a quick play the ball.

Thought he was poor in the 1st half last night. Dropped a bomb with no real pressure on him and he looked a bit disinterested. Better in the 2nd half but not looking as ood as he was before he was dropped

He is a complete contrast to Tony in regards to his kick returns, Tony used to run the ball bad like a mad man like a forward would run the ball, Tansey looks to try and beat the man rather then hit the defender hard, just different styles of play, Its starting to annoy me when people are getting on his back to run blindly forward hes just not that type of player.

To be fair I've seen the deity that is S**** Br***** do that as well. I think sometimes we should just applaud the kicker and not deride the player.

In the future Tansey will play Full Back for England

He can be frustrating with his kick returns at times but it's just his style. He did not have the best of games again last night following on from Wigan but took his tries well enough.

That was pretty much my view of it. Surprised he has a few votes on the MOM thread, to be honest.
