So in other words we do spend cash, just not the way you'd prefer?

We've certainly mismanaged the budget for years IMO, although the three players you mention wouldn't have been on my list of those where we've wasted cash. I thought last season's recruitment was more or less spot on given the need to rebuild the squad and players available.

You can't spend too much cap on a single player in case they get injured or miss a load of games for any other reason. See Bradford for details.

but to some people the future and now of hull fc is important and means alot and just to get over it to some people isnt as simple as that.

Summed up by a guy as I was leaving the ground. His 2 daughters were very disenchanted with the performance and the eldest said 'I've just had enough of them now Dad, I don't want to bother next year thanks'. The other agreed.

Recruitment is getting more difficult year on year. I think sometimes we fans forget how competitive the marketplace is and how hard it can be to get all your targets. Or even any of them.

We've made a hash of recruitment and retention for years. I'm confident that at long last we are at least [itrying[/i to get it right.

I was refering to our league placing tbh. However we didn't come within a mile of winning anything again and won't as long as Agar remains in charge.

yeh credit to them they were alot better then us on the day but why? yeh teams can beat each other on any given day but the club have had problems for a few years now and i know im not the only one who wants this club to get a grip and progress

I think there's a strong element that don't. It seems to be treated purely as an investment, so as long the money keeps coming in they're satisfied. If we genuinely wanted to be the best we'd go out and get what is required to do so. Any success seems to be an added bonus for us.

Since 2006 we have been overtaken by Wigan, Warrington, Leeds, Huddersfield and Hull KR.

Whenever the club's representatives are confronted they divert to the off-field success. They're either not too bothered we don't compete for silverware or simply in denial of how far off we are. I'd rather they acknowledge that it just isn't good enough instead of pretending everything's rosy.

To say they don't care entirely is probably going a bit far, but I genuinely don't think on-field performance is the priority at Hull FC.

If you think that the board are not aware that fans will eventually get peed off and stop turning up then I think you underestimate them. And I'd also be surprised if they didn't appreciate the link between success and things like lucrative sponsorship deals etc. When you add in things like the recent spending on youth development and the commitment to training facilities what it looks like to me is a BOD with an eye on the long term.

Which may be the problem.

Fans want success NOW. I think the BOD are working on a longer time scale.

We are a business so all thing have to be taken into consideration. I think they are all aware that we need to be competitive and we have been this season.

Well this is about Agar isn't it? 2006 was P Sharp. Look at our finishes for the last 10 years, maybe 2nd was a season were we over achieved?

yeh but when you look at the club and its off the field credentials the club should have improved and progressed from 2006 but we dint. no club has the god given right to finish in the 8 but why on earth are we the 7th best side in the comp when just a few years ago we were in the top 2 i wont accept that
