Unfortunatley i don`t think Maloney is big enough, while he never let us down he is not what we need as a prop, we have been screaming for some size up front sice Carvell did the dirty on us and as far as i can see Maloney isn`t the answer, hopefully Lauaki isn`t too far away from been able to play and we`ll hopefully see some real impact from the bench.

FWIW Maloney has done OK for us and i would like him to stay on next year. However, if we have 6 or 7 props already signed up and he is at the back of that list then it makes sense for him personally and for us to not hold onto him. Bigger picture needed here.

King, Radford, Dowes and Cusack all ooc at the end of next season. Maloney with the right coaching could be a ready made replacement for one of them without the need to recruit elsewhere. Seems some coaches don't want to coach anymore and prefer the ready made option.

He could. Or on the other hand he could sit in our reserves and not develop or be good enough meaning weve wasted time and money trying. FWIW i dont even think King and Radford will be here next season but with the signings we are bringing in Maloney wont get a game either.

Agree. So surely a spell at Halifax with the chance to play in the play offs in the championship will help him more then half a dozen games in the reserves?

I personally think Hull may keep him for at least another year.

Hope they do, he has real promise. But if we dont its not the end of the world either like some are making out.

Exactly the bigger picture point i was making, however, in 12 months time with a year on loan at Fax if that happened he may well be a better replacement too for King if he hasnt already gone by then.

Factoring in injuries, loss of form and a coach that believes in him then, yes.

Personaly I think the biggest insult is Agar saying he is "just sat outside the top 17." Jeez, if you cant match some of those hopeless losers,you have no chance.

Reading Agars comments on the Hull FC site would suggest that he thinks he is progressing although just not in the first 17 and a spell at Fax will help this process.

All indicates that Agar has future plans for Maloney IMO.

He has been solid but nothing special in the games we have seen him so far. The only way he would get a game next year is due to injuries and for his own development it would be a waste for him to play in the reserves. Currently I would play him over a couple of our current "props" though.

I know what you are saying but I disagree. Agar hasn't been giving DM hardly any chances all season. FFS Agar even brought another prop in from the other side of the world and then had the cheek to loan DM out.

Yes but just because we have a few injuries doesnt mean Maloney is suddenly 'ready' for super league. I do not know much about Cordoba but you have to give the club some credit for bringing a guy across mid season to help the coach put out as strong a squad as possible.

). Agar thinks a guy with 60 odd NRL appearance will improve the team more then the guy who is still cutting his teeth at this level but progressing none the less.

The only logical explanation i can see for this is due to the 25 player first team squad rule and he has had to make way on this so Tansey can be registered on it.

• Each engage Super League club must nominate a first team squad of up to 25 players.
• Clubs may then make amendments to that first team squad during the season with the prior approval of the RFL.
• If a club wishes to play a player who is not in the first team squad, it may only do so with the prior approval of the RFL.

So I suppose it depends how the 25 is defined (I presume it's to do with full time vs part time). If Tansey's arrival has made it impossible for Maloney to play in the first team, perhaps he's asked for a move.

You will see teams have a 30 man squad, although only 25 of them will be classed as first team, some will be academy who do not count.

Wasnt aware of this rule, thought it had gone when the 20/25/25 ruling went but obviously hasnt.

I can't see how the RFL can enforce it, surely it's restriction of trade?

Couldnt we justify the signing of Tansey with the season ending injury to Motu? Thats assuming Motus injury is that bad of course.

Seems harsh that you cannot replace an injured player due to a 25 man squad ruling.
