| Quote ="east hull FC fan"That's a ludicrous statement to make.
Would you rather the ground full of families with picnic baskets? I'd prefer a ground with atmosphere.'"
Why is it ludicrous, it seems to me a very many people saying they don't like Sunday is because it doesn't fit in with their desired plan to get drunk at the rugby and then go on into town, fair enough, I can see the attraction of that, but I see WAY more attraction to getting the KC back to being family (and away fan) friendly, and moving to Sunday goes towards that.
With scheduled Sunday games we can, hopefully, have a PITP next season.
Success on the pitch and Sunday rugby is what Hull FC needs, imho.

| Quote ="Ellam"Well said Standee, my thoughts exactly majority of people against Sundays are the people who get tanked up afterwards and don't have families. You can go to a pub on a Sunday after a game and there will be plenty of Friday games anyways. '"
I am against Sunday because I do have a family, although they don't go to the match.
Friday matches don't intrerfere with our family life at all. I can go to the match, possibly straight from work, have a couple of drinks with my friends afterwards and them have the rest of the weekend free to spend with my family.
Sunday matches were fine in the winter when there is nothing else to do but on a summer Sunday I'm not going to leave my family at home and clear off to the match on my own when there are so many other things we can do together.
For those reasons I will not be renewing my pass. I will go to any Friday night games and the occasional Sunday game but thats it.
I appreciate other people's circumstances are different, but to brand Friday night supporters as single people who are only there for the beer is just wrong Ellam.

I don't think Ellam (or anyone else) is saying that everyone who prefers a Friday night is, but a fair few are and it's their reason why they don't want to move game days.
Out of interest, have you only been a fan for 3 years?

Only if you don't count the first 23 years.
When I started watching Hull FC in the mid 80's I was in my early 20s and single. We played Sunday afternoons in the winter. I had a pass for several years.
Later I got married and had a family. Winter sunday afternoons were still not a problem though. We then switched to summer rugby and Sunday matches caused me problems.
When we moved the KC I didn't get a pass and attended as and when I could but when we switched to Friday nights I bought a pass again and have had one for the last 3 years.

Only very occasionally, not to every match.
I'm not saying this decision is [iwrong[/i; just that it doesn't suit me [ipersonally[/i.
Obviously if AP is right that most people prefer Sundays then attendances will go up. If he is wrong they will go down. However, I cannot see attendances going up by very much next season unless we get a new coach and a better product on the pitch and if AP wants to sell more passes he needs to appoint a new coach sooner rather than later.

I think we will see a marked increase in away fans travelling to games, especially if the pricing is addressed, I also think we'll see better home attendances for the "big" games, but I agree 100% that none of that will matter if we're still languishing just inside the payoffs with a coach that refers to an uncertain race for 8th as "exciting"!

If AP believes the drop in attendance this year is due to Friday/Sunday games he is dellusional. If Agar remains they will drop even further irrelevant of when we play.'"
It's something that had to be announced early prior to the season passes brochure being released.
The change to Sunday's is just one piece of the jigsaw. Listening to his interview a couple of weeks ago, I imagine a reduction in ticket prices may follow and a change to the reserved areas of the ground (probably other things too). A couple of new signings will make a difference.
I agree though that the biggest effect on attendances will be if Agar stays or goes, we'll see what happens.
Regarding the family aspect; I was hooked to FC at at early age, as I image a lot of people are on here. Kids are the future of the club and if by playing on Sunday's means we can get more of them watching FC and getting hooked like we did, the better.

Let's step back for a moment or two and analyse this "summer rugby" statement. I started watching Hull FC aged 6 in 76 when it was a "winter sport" the season ran from August (yes August) through to May. Now we have a "summer sport" our season runs from February ( winter) through to October if we are lucky. Then 4 nations into November ( winter) this leaves us with just June and July when we play now compared to then. August this year has barely seen us with games due to CC on 2 weekends which even if we had played I suspect would have been Saturday afternoon for both.
So do we actually play a summer sport? Or are you just making excuses?
As I see things AP intends to make things far more "family friendly" that means events like PITP and what we saw prior to the derby this year. The chance for a family lunch before hand etc. Non of this has to mean that your family have to watch the game.
It may even mean that on a freezing cold Sunday in March (I bet there will be a few) even April / May you will have something to do as opposed to watching the rain fall on your garden. Admittedly you could argue the other way, but don't be fooled with us being a summer sport as I see us playing far more in Winter / spring / Autumn than the glorious (sarcastic) summers we have here in the UK.
I am naturally as most know very happy with this decision. The stats on the crowds over 3 years don't add up as some think. 3000 down this year MIGHT be because its Friday night rugby (I said might) nobody can be certain. It could also be as AP said due to prices and also due to product on the park.
Wire don't suffer for having Sunday matches. Huddersfield don't either and come to think of it Cas have improved and they play Sunday. Catalans and Quins prefer Saturdays add in Wakey on Sunday and now us and suddenly turn around times argument goes out the window.
So not everyone will like it. That is a fact. I have grown to accept Fridays mainly by not going as its way too far to travel. My family in West Yorkshire don't go as often. Next season I see my parents sitting with 4 grandchildren, me my sister and her family and my family in west yorks. At least 10 people where it was 2 or 3 this year. If that's replicated across the board then AP will soon recoup his cash. While some will hate that its what he is in the business for after all.
I can also see the SMC benefiting which might help us negotiate a better deal. As things stand I know for a fact that the SMC get very little from food etc on. Friday as most have had their T.
Naturally Sky will come calling so we will get the odd Friday game which will mean I and many others will not be able to attend. But as many told me 3 years ago if you are a true fan you will adapt. I took their advice bided my time and now see a big light at the end of the tunnel.
The family / community club I love and have done for years is now coming back to me.

Ok so the vast majority of people completing the survey voted for Sundays and AP decided to announce his decision straightaway rather than waiting until after 5 September.
Applying the same logic, why is Agar still in a job?

| Crafty old sod is your man Pearson. Bear in mind that AP is a soccer man first!
Your crowds for Fridays are still larger than when Sunday was match day.
The statement says that there is a majority who want Sunday rather than Friday games. This move will be to suit the soccer and no other reason.
When he dumps Agar and the season tickets and crowds increase he will say it is down to moving to Sundays. It will, of course, be due to him sacking Agar, recruiting a top class coach and bringing in a couple of quality signings.
That way he has pleased both clubs.
The soccer has HullFC playing the day after them rather than the day before when/if they both clash at home.
Rugby fans will be happy because Agar has gone and suddenly the club is in a far better position that in has been for some years.
Like I said, crafty lad is that Pearson fella!

Couldn`t agree more Standee, although our main game day will be Sunday if we get a new coach along with the new signings who can get us to play to our potential then we will have our fair share of games covered on Sky, this will give us a mix of Fri,Sat & Sunday games which is what Mr Pearson said when interviewed on FCTV the other week

I agree, think Mr Pearson will give us a bit of news each week, hopefully building up to a big crescendo just before the passes go on sale, i`m pretty sure that will be his plan anyway

| Prefer Fridays personally but not fussed as in reality we will end up with a mix of Fridays and Sundays because of the Sky scheduling.
More important issues yet to be decided and/or announced ? Who knows, probably only AP and he ain't saying yet which makes sense as the season isn't quite yet over.

If you think that then you are very naive, the guy is/has going to pump 2-3 million pounds of his own money into Hull, he isn't a supporter so want to be successful and get a return, he obviously thinks rightly or wrongly that a move to Sunday will get more people through the gate.
He isn't stupid though and it is obvious he knows that reduction in prices and more success on the pitch is the way forward.
It doesn't matter which day the game is played if we are winning (and it's cheaper to get in) the crowds will go up beyond anything we have seen, if we can challenge the top teams again we should average over 15K IMO.

no doubt the timetable will change next year, but at the moment you can get the 17:41 from Hull-Donny-Edin (get in at 22:22) or the 17:48 from Hull-Leeds-Edin (get in at 23:09), factor in rail replacement and the rest of it and I reckon an extra night with the family will be best!
