Lets face it Radford is finished, he turns hi back into tackles so never has a chance of getting a quick ptb. He is arguably our worst player right now.

I agree Paul. In the past I've defended him on here but I think he certainly needs to be shown the door, I don't think it's lack of effort or anything like that I think it's just a case of his best days are well behind him.

I would put Thorman, R. Horne and Thackray, in that position before Radford at the moment, Hornes play the ball is so slow even when he manages to win the floor is pathetic. Thorman has been discussed previously and Thacks is returning to his old ways of being the penalty machine.
King is just going through the motions when he gets on, so I would put Radders about 5th worst along with a few others.

Bradford much the same though they have gone off the boil without Pryce.
They have Deacan and had Mcnamara plus other quality 13s and also Newton.

Pivitol positions for which they have stability.

This is my only fear with us signing Long. If we sit back for two years we will not get that dynasty that Leeds and Saints have.

We need to settle with stability in these pivitol positions.

The same could also be said of Full back. Saints have Wellens whilst Leeds have always signed quality FB.

It is not rocket science why they have all won the silverware in the past 14 years.

I'd still try Berrigan in the right centre if not at 7.

No you don't. You might think you do. You might want to so much that you convince yourself you do. Unfortunately, though, you don't. You can't. It doesn't exist.

In 2006 and 2007, he did get through a lot of work, much of it good quality work. Even at the start of last year, he wasn't too bad. He has dropped off remarkably though and, along with playing much less, the quality of his play whilst he is on is much worse than it was. He's always had a tendency to turn his back into tackles to attempt to gain an extra couple of yards at the expense of a quick play and an extra 5+ yards on the next phase, but for the past two years, this is what he's done on nearly every hit-up. Defending, he gets caught flat-footed going into tackles and frequently loses the collision and gets out of position at marker. This often results in easy ground made out of dummy half or a penalty given away. To try to combat losing the tackle, he will also get caught putting in really poor quality work on the ground, again resulting in stupid, unnecessary penalties. His ball control is poor, with him coming up with too many errors, both through losing the ball or from throwing stupid offloads. He also has far too much involvement as an extra pair of hands. It's predictable (basically, every time it's not obvious he's taking a drive in, he's going to throw a deep wedge ball out the back to Thorman or Horne), the quality of the passing is poor in terms of both speed and accuracy, and it doesn't achieve anything with every defender in the league expecting it, meaning they neither get caught out positionally, nor do they use up any energy attempting to tackle Radford.

It's unfortunate for him, but he's gone as a player. And as a captain, he's never been anywhere near.

thats pretty much saying it how you want to see it.
I know you dont like stats for whatever reason, but take things as they are at face value and Radford is as good as any body in the SL and far better than the majority in our own team including Cusack.

As far as his passing goes, he didn't come as a ball handling SR.

The thing is he is a second row playing at LF doing a props job, quite a handfull for anybody,. The stats on tackles has him at 8th best in SL, his marker tackles has him at 4th best in SL, his missed tackles dont put him in the top 25, likewise with his errors and penalties, only 8 errors and 5 penalties.

All of wich you have identified as his 'inadequasies and shortcomings' admitted he doesn't break many tackles, that would be down to energy spent being the 'workhorse' of the team and without him he would leave a massive hole to fill at this moment in time.

So looking through another pair of eyes, it is there to be seen, but only those gifted enough can see it.

Radford is the least of our problems. A team simply cannot opperate without organisation, decent pivots and the will to win, we have none of these. Swapping Radford for Gordon Tallis in his pomp would make no difference to our team at the moment. In fact, Radford is one of the few players that is actually doing his job.

Back to Berrigan, a world class player that has been made to look lost in a position he has played at SOO and international level. What Agar is doing to this squad is beyond belief, IMO we still have enough talent to be in the top four.

I'd find it hard to disagree with any of that, I would say that for most of last season he was still doing quite well in terms of work rate but this season he has been awful. I could handle a slow ptb if he was making the extra yards but he is now getting neither. In fact on one play early in the first half we had a tap on the twenty which he took in, turned his back and then got driven back to where he started from.

The guy has never been a captain and as a player seems to be burnt out, there is absolutely no way he should be here next season and I got told a number of months ago he wouldn't be. We can't allow sentiment to come into the decision making, get rid.

This I don't understand when people talk about Berrigan, I rate him, very highly and have been a huge fan of his well before he came to Hull. However we has been poor this season yet people excuse him as 'he has rubbbish players around him'. Yet Agar gets slated for destroying a good side.

Now either we have a good side and Berrigan has been poor or we have a poor side and Agar can't do much with just like Berrigan can't.

People can't just change their argument to suit like it seems on this thread.

I feel that Agar has drained the confidence out the team and the players are playing rubbish which is draging players like berro down .You seem to have some axe to grind with Berro he cant do alot by himself when the rest of the team are just either not good enough or not interested.
When he plays hooker the play the ball is that slow he cant get any advantage going and at times the forwards are not willing to run it in so looks like he is left there waiting for someone to pass to . He looked goog at loose-forward when he had players to pass to and a couple of runners like yeamo.
