The 1st indication of Cooke signing would be Rules resignation if he sticks to what he said at a fans forum a couple of years back. I'd suggest that classes as a reasonable statement of "Hull won't be signing him".

Rule has consistently been adamant that whilst he is in charge Cooke would never play for the club again.

Love him or loathe him - Jimmy Rule has made this club one of the most financially sustainable clubs, with 1st class marketing, merchandising and community links. Rule would be a huge loss so I can't see Cooke even being considered - if he did then the club would lose Rule and will have shot itself in the foot IMO.

Like many have said already, Cooke made his decision, knew the consequences and if he's regretting it now - tough luck! The cookie has crumbled - let him drift into obscurity - he deserves it.

Paul Cooke is a one trick pony, admittedly that trick worked well for FC as the team had evolved around him. At Rovers we weren;t geared up to play that game.

His biggest problem is that unless he's the main man he isn't intersted, seems to lack enthusiasm and looks lazy. I'm certain if he'd played to his billing then Morgan would have geared the team around him, unfortunately he just seemed to think he'd be the messiah and not have to try, better players more committed players came in and he had to go, we showed him the same level of loyalty he deserved, none. He was just another player, shame he didn;t see it that way.

Paul Cooke is finished in SL, He may do ok at NL level but it depends if his ego can take the drop. As someone said earlier FC not signing him has nothing to do with Rule's statement but more to do with the fact he's not good enough anymore.

When the news broke about cookie i couldnt belive what i was hearing,i was so angry, nobody dear mention his name in my house for months, it wasnt him leaving it was the way it was done that angered me the most and still does as i loved watching him play for fc, ive watched him grow from a youngster into a good player and then this happened!but it come back to bite him on the in the end, i think he was ill advised along the way and rovers dangled a carrot and he bit it.2 things ive never understood about it all, he left to go to his boyhood club which i suppose is every players wish but he never seemed to shine there, he didnt show the same passion for the game as he did at fc, and the other thing is why did rovers not want him after they went to so much trouble and money to sign the kid!There was so much media coverage when he left fc but hardly any when he left there why? I dont think he,ll ever admit it but it was the biggest mistake of his career and now has to deal with it!

Re Cooke it's a shame because I think in terms of ability he could still be an SL player, but the release by Wakey must send out a very strong message to SL coaches. I thought that he'd always be guaranteed a job with either Kear or Mcrae, but obviously not re Kear eh. Be interesting therefore to see if Salford do make any move, although I'm not sure if one of the signings they've made is a stand-off.
