That said if Wigan & Wire start sniffing, no reason why they can't start their own Visa applications for Chase, don't forget it was the question of "would you consider a move to Wigan" by a reporter that led to the breakdown in relations at Cas, and if our "Top London Layers" can sort the Visa then their's can do the same.
Hopefully we will have some pre-contract arrangement in place, subject to Visa.'"
Chris28 is the man to ask this one, but don't you have to have some sort of pre-contract in place to obtain a Visa in the first place, to prove you have the employment to go to?

Its the first time ive answered to a rumour on here as I'm always out the loop lol, but this one seems genuine.

It's only a done deal if we can overcome the Visa hurdle, if no Visa is forthcoming then we move on and look elsewhere as Pearson has already indicated.....
Hopefully we'll have it sorted by 4th September, cue bumper Season Ticket sales

| Quote ="carl_spackler"That's why I said 'a few good announcements'.
All that has actually changed in the last month or so is the quality of player rumoured, and the Chase confirmation. Nothing concrete is any different at all, but the outlook seems to be much more positive. I guess I'm just trying to reiterate that it was far too early to be getting downbeat with so much unknown, as it is still just as possible that it could end up like your post just suggested. We could yet make major improvements to our squad.'"
The biggest change for me in the last few weeks is Pearson telling us he is prepared to do what it takes and spend, although this does still not ensure we get what we want it fills us with optimism.

| Scott Taylor will go where the best deal is, he has no love for Hull and despite attending games was never a Hull fan.
If he is happy in the city of Hull and we offer him a good deal to match others then I think we have a good chance of signing him.

Pearson said that almost from day one of taking over so it's not a change at all. A few dodgy results in season one and many fans immediately lose their nerve. In fairness we've been so far off for a while that's probably understandable. However nothing happens instantaneously. The biggest thing is that we've got a good coach in place to implement AP's plan going forward. When the player turnaround accelerates and the squad takes its new shape that is when things will become consistently better.

I disagree AP made a lot of noises when he first took over and said by the October 2011 every-one would be clear of his intentions etc and nothing happened....It is only recently he has gone public with comments such as he believed he had inherited a decent squad which he never, very poor youth and basically slated the 18s, and he will now do what it takes to put that all right.

Didn't Pearson say that he was prepared to invest big time at the early fans' forum that was broadcast on HullFC.com during the close season ?

Yes but I believe he was referring to training facilities etc at the time, he has been very public lately about the fact he was lead to believe he had inherited a decent team and this is supported with the early season headlines of top 4 etc from the club. I am not suggesting he was never going to put big investment into the club however it is only recently he has made promises to fans that 2 top h/backs will be joining the club and he will pay what it takes.

It was Bradford. They signed Higham from Saints, then swapped him with Wigan for Newton.

Exactly why I think it's been rejected and we're appealing on Human Rights grounds.
We were hopeful of getting it for last Friday, it's been almost a week since then. Unless we're saving it for Sep 4th with the others.
I hope the deal with Chase is already agreed between the clubs. His performance last week and most likely for the rest of the year will only increase his fee back up.

TBF to AP he has done everything he said he would, he has brought in a completely new coach & coaching set up, he made big changes within the club off field he also said the club had been underinvested and he would not let that happen again under his ownership and he also promised to sort out the academy and youth set up.
That he got rid of Agar & brought in Gentle and Andy Hay was for me a sign of his intentions to improve things along with everything else he has done and is currently working on. He has also let us know the club was in a much greater state of decline and needed more investment which he would put in, another sign of his intentions.
IMHO he has done as much as he could the only thing he was unable to do was change the playing staff, although he brought in Andy Lynch paying a transfer fee. We couldnt say one way or the other what the squad was going to be like until the halfway point of the season. Now AP & PG know who needs cutting and who they want to bring in with some of these changes been brought forward to avoid another wasted season of transistion.
What more could he do?

I am not suggesting he could have done any-more, what I am saying is his specific speech last Friday in which he said he will be bringing 2 top h/backs to the club has no doubt given a lot of people including myself much needed optimism.

Well some things did happen; we got rid of Agar, brought in the coach who had courted the most suitors on the market, and paid a fee for Andy Lynch. Can't see how you don't think he showed signs of his intentions TBH.
I can understand people doubting how likely we might be to get what we want, but not to suggest we've only just been given reason to believe that Pearson will try as hard as possible to get them, he's said that from the off.

Of course he did but actions speak louder than words, yes we changed the coach and rightly so we had been pants for years, he also paid a fee for Lynch however the regime before that paid a fee for Westy so it was not unheard of.Fans have dropped off and our season to date has been far from consistent, our cup run was as bad as ever basically up until last Friday it was negative after negative, losing players which Pearson even stated he would have preferred to keep, our phsyio not up to it, players going home etc etc.
I am reasonably happy with Pearson but I shall not be worshiping him until I get what I want which is simply to be a challenging side, although I do believe he is going in the right direction to achieve that by stating he will pay for 2 top h/backs.

But the strange thing is that Pearson saying the magic words '2 halfbacks' should make no difference. He's still not guaranteed to deliver 2 top quality halfbacks, just as neither were we definitely not looking for them well before he went public. It just seems bizarre to me that until Pearson made a promise that he may or may not be able to satisfactorily fulfil, people were convinced that our recruitment was going to be poor, but now that he has it could all be rosy again.

Of course it makes a difference, our problems for the last few seasons has been down to lack of decent h/backs, fans have been screaming out for them for several years now. I do not think people thought our recruitment would be poor, average maybe unless we are prepared to pay big bucks in transfer fees which Pearson has now made clear he is prepared to do, I am sure he will deliver actually as he does not appear to be the kind of person who would make such a bold statement.

The fact he has said he is bringing in 2 top h/backs
Seymour & Horney would not have taken us forward, we knew that now thankfully Pearson knows that.
