I can see that making him popular with Taylor. If Taylor wants to come to us (and I don't know if he does), surely it would restraint of trade for his current employer to refuse that? Taylor then refuses to go to Leeds as he wants to come to us and spends the rest of his contract going through the motions or warming his 'arris in the stands. Making Hudge popular with his own fans too.

if Taylor wants to come to us, then he will, even if he has to see his contract out. If it meant us missing out this year because Hudge wont accept a fee, and it keeps him away from Leeds, then i can wait another 12 months - give O'Meley another year

lynch, watts, taylor and kite, with bowden back up. Back row of westerman, ellis, whiting and maybe another surpirse one coming in. Chase and another new half back, decent full back together with who we know will be in the 3/4's and I think we'll be very comeptitive.

Hope the club is looking at conditioning etc very carefully as well. Pearson inidcated that wigan are way out in front in the sports science area - although rovers can't be far behind as I'm sure this was hudge's buzz phrase last year when he recruited sandy. presume gentle didn't know enough about it for hudge

If Taylor really is keen on coming to us, I think Hudgell will just have to either deal with it and make a few bob, or let him go for nothing (or next to). Depends just how much he's willing for Rovers to spite themselves for some sort of petty point. Who else will pay Rovers a fair fee for him? The NRL's out of the question, and if he's practically begging Leeds to take him so that we don't get him, why would they, knowing that he doesn't want to sell to us?

What a difference to the doom and gloom of a month ago. A few good announcements and recruitment is starting to look very strong.

All that has actually changed in the last month or so is the quality of player rumoured, and the Chase confirmation. Nothing concrete is any different at all, but the outlook seems to be much more positive. I guess I'm just trying to reiterate that it was far too early to be getting downbeat with so much unknown, as it is still just as possible that it could end up like your post just suggested. We could yet make major improvements to our squad.

What about Clinton?

If we can sort the Visa hurdle relatively quickly I'm sure Chase will come to us after we've done all the leg work.

That said if Wigan & Wire start sniffing, no reason why they can't start their own Visa applications for Chase, don't forget it was the question of "would you consider a move to Wigan" by a reporter that led to the breakdown in relations at Cas, and if our "Top London Layers" can sort the Visa then their's can do the same.

Hopefully we will have some pre-contract arrangement in place, subject to Visa.

If I were Gary H I'd be saying to Grudgell "we'll take him for £50k" and be saying to Pearson "and then you can buy him from us for £100k, which is less than the £150k Grudgell turned down" everyone's a winner.

Hope your right, not sure on O'Meley though, will be interesting to see if he gets a start over the next few matches, any more "injury" setbacks and I'm sure he will be off to pastures new
