I’m not one for calling coaches but if Houghton goes off with a tight hammy and lane plays hooker I think it might be breaking point.

Lane gets so much stick and I think he’s been playing better but then has to play out of position. Are we going to use our whole 17 this week or just leave someone sat on the bench

No Balmforth yet again is baffling, the kid needs to leave for the sake of himself. Couldn't care less about the game when week after week we're trying the same old crap that doesn't work. I'd be happier trying something different even if it didn't quite work: 1.Litten, 6.Hoy, 7.Charles, 9.Brown, 13.Balmforth and Smith on the bench would surely give fans something to show we're attempting to switch things up but we'll just stick with the same thing again and not use the most promising young lad in the squad.

I've already cancelled magic weekend and catalans away in the summer, the clubs not bothered and just going through the motions. Saved myself £700 or so.

Balmforth not being in the squad has pretty much made my mind up that I won't be watching, because that means yet again Brown will be at 7, Houghton will be forced to play 80 minutes etc etc.

I hope we win, I'm sure our performance will be much better than against Leigh, but I just don't think I can bring myself to watch it.

I'd definitely have Martin on the wing, and either have Scott or Mcintosh at centre.

I simply cannot fathom why he has reverted back to Houghton 9, and Brown to 6.( Or right edge). Brown is far more effective in the middle.

Smith is fixated on his belief he cannot field more than 2 young lads at a time, currently Stavely and Martin. Its this strange stubborness thats holding us back.

We d look alot better with Balmforth and Jebson in there. Rather than continuing with woefully out of form players and square pegs in round holes.

Unless any of the posters on here have any inside knowledge I’d suggest leaving selection to the people being paid to do it.
Despite the expert insights displayed on here, there have to be solid reasons certain players are not getting picked, and those reasons do not have to be explained to anyone other than the players.

Might as well pack the forum up then if only people who are paid by the club can have an opinion on things

The thing that puzzles me (well one of the things!) is that I'm pretty certain the other week that Smith said that he was after trying out different combinations (think it was when explaining why Hoy was dropped) but I can see Hoy at FB again with Smith and Brown in the halves and Houghton at hooker.

Appreciate your imput Tony but whats the solid reason you dont pick Balmforth yet are prepared play Houghton on one good leg even though every week you pull him off with a suspected hamstring strain and then use anyone available on the field to slot in at nine despite having two nines at halfback.
I suspect its a cunning plan to confuse the opposition and appreciate you dont have to explain this to fans but may be if you did inform the players of your brainwaves we may see more structure on the pitch rather than seeing a prop or second row forward taking the ball on the the fifth tackle from a makeshift nine

It's certainly baffling why Houghton gets picked every week and plays till exhaustion yet Balmforth can't even get in the squad?
