A win is a win but still a very dire style of rugby, how Radford can claim we beat a 'quality' side is beyond me, it was a mid table side decimated by injuries.

Did we score one try with Howarth on for 60 mins and three in 20 mins with Abdul.

To be fair to haworth and abdull, i dont belive abdulls 30 minutes contributed as massively to our 3 trys as you think, just my opinion tho

Hate moaning about Refs but Child was awful tonight ( For both teams) he is so picky.

Saying that we gave some really dumb penalties away tonight, 2/3 on the 4th/5th tackle.

Also Why did Lineham have a go at the linesman when he scored, another dumb piece of play that could have really cost us.

I commented at the game that our shape looked much better with Abdull on. Whether this just coincided with us getting a bit of a roll on and Salford tiring I don't know but even if thats the case playing Abdull is still prefered. He's hardly a rookie these days and he's at least as capable as Howarth (being generous to Howarth here!) plus he's a long term option.

In a way it did, even if it got Howarth out of the way, at times he was playing like a half and just getting in our way.

Maybe it was a tactic to fetch Abdul on when Salford was tiring.

Perhaps but I still don't see the logic in it. Westerman is out but we have a player with much the same skill set in Adbul (big, strong, good hands, kicking game) so the obvious thing for me would be to play him at LF and use Howarth at SR or prop to spell out other forwards.
Either way it wasn't pretty but at least we won.
Wathcing us attacking line is still like trying to cut a steak with a spoon.

Our backing up on breaks is still as shocking as ever. Pryce makes a great break and Houghton is the only one to back up, not having a go at rankin but you could be your house shaul would have been on the shoulder of houghton

Westy is our link to the fringes, Abdul can play a bit of his role but not for the full 80, he maybe should have started had 20 mins then come on last 20-25 to create the link again. But like you say it's a win, & in a way it was good to come through in the end, despite our ill discipline & force passing, that's what frustrates me.

Maybe that post about you being part of the club hierarchy is true after all

Listened to some of it. Sounded poor again, but at least we found a way to win, which often isn't the case in these tight games.

Not written off the top 8 yet but I'm struggling to raise any enthusiasm for the games. Tonight will buy Radford more time, but really it should be another black mark against his name, far from convincing.

On the plus side, no matter how bad we play we will never be as bad as Rovers were tonight. I can't remember a more spineless first half performance than that.

Like you said it wasn't all off him, but he's smart enough to see things & create when the opposition are tiring, it's what all good pivots can do.

He seemed to take an age to award Sa's try. I was sure he was looking for a reason to disallow it but in the end he didn't have the nerve.
