Who were they? Forgive my ignorance for not knowing your full squad

Disappointed today I know we had several 1st teamers missing,but we have been thrashed by the team favourite to be bottom.I know its only a friendly,but I would have hoped we would have not conceeded 40 odd points.It looks as though we need our best side on the pitch or our replacements are not up to it,so hopefully we get a fair run injury free,once we took our 1st choices off last week the game changed.Hopefully naughton is ok. COYH.

It's a friendly.........doubt if Wakey fans will be jumping for joy with beating a under strength hull side.......I may be the odd one out here but il wait til the season starts and points up for grabs before knee-jerking.

22 out of your squad of 27 were on the teamsheet, so if 2/3 (1icon_cool.gif didn't play, who are these other (13) guys??

We played well, although it was a very understrength Hull team who left out about a dozen or so regulars and Ellis obviously waan't fit and only played the first 20. Bit you can only play whats in front of you and we'll gain some confidence from it even if we didn't learn a great deal. My one worry is, after games against understrength Leeda and Hull teams and a very average Fev side, that we could be a little under done come the first game.

And that final point is my concern for us. Our starting 13 had about 1/2 hour together against decent opposition (ok I mean Rovers), we seem a little under done as well.

But that was nothing more than a glorified training session, hardly what we'll be facing in a fortnight.

Pretty much, a strong squad throughout for that one. No win for Radford today, but the positives are we could be looking at a fully fit squad in a fortnight's time and have had the squad together since early November.

Jordan Thompson played himself into the 17 today for me. The starting pack picks itself (of which we only saw Ellis briefly today):

Bench less clear cut.

Can't understand our pre season team selections at all, we play our strongest side against the weakest opposition (York) rather than testing them out against Rovers & Wakefield??

it'll be a full month between the York game and Huddersfield game, and we're expecting the team (with new half-back combination and other new additions lets not forget) to gel instantly? Can't understand it at all.

Could be between you and Bradford for the promotion when the league splits I'm affraid

You have to hope both Green and Bowden lift their games if either of them are included in the 17 otherwise we will struggle at prop.
For me Feka,Thompson Bowden and Rankin if fit.
I know we then have no hooker interchange but Cunningham will definitely not play and god forbid Radford puts Howarth on the bench

Pre season friendlies in terms of how the season is going to go mean pretty much nothing however I don't understand why Radford didn't play some more of the first team squad which was not carring knocks like westy to get used to playing with each other.

The squad's been training together since November. Maybe the first choice combinations are working OK in training?

Maybe the best combinations in training are being played in the friendlies

Thought bowden did ok Today, put one massive hit on a wakey player who was out for a few mmoments, Thompson was guilty of two late shoulder charges

feka, Bowden, green, hadley and thompson battling for 3 forawrd/props on the bench v hudds, wouldnt be suprised if he went for 4 on the bench

Rovers went to Warry and by all accounts was bloody terrible and lost Larroyer and Kelly to injuries.So they play a SL team with a full squad and lose and get injuries.........looks as though we may have done right thing.

Wigan got beat at Sts with a virtual full team out as well.....they also got done at Leigh,bet they aren't knee jerking

I tend to agree. The bulk of the first choice XVII have played a game and a half in total and just 40 minutes against SL opposition.

I hear the argument abour protecting players and not wanting to pick up injuries but we are just as likely to pick up injuires in round one at Huddersfield as we are in a pre-season friendly.
