To be fair I think you've got mixed up with the criteria for the position of England coach there mate!

I've always been a bit of a sucker for the backs against the wall mentality, backing the underdog when the majority are whipping themselves into a hysterical froth (and christ, there's a few on here).
If the owner of the club that many of us are emotionally involved with decides to stick with the current status quo then so be it.

2 implications are suggested by that remark:

a) That Radford and Pearson are complicit in the shortfall and have exciting plans as to how it will be spent, or

b) Radford is frustrated that Pearson is withholding the shortfall and feels by doing this Pearson is compromising his, Radfords, ability to do the best job. Viz., Pearson can be added to the list of people being offered by Radford as the reason for our woes.

Either way, I can't see AP being happy he's let it slip if we are miles under cap.

If we are under the cap, we are not almost half a million under. And even if we were, the squad we have is still better than 12th, regardless of how much we have spent. So whatever way you look at it it's just more excuses.

Last season we released;
Galea, Lynch, McDonnell (all apparently big earners). During this season we also released Pitts and Arundel. Probably more in there aswell but can't think right now.

And brought in; Talanoa, Carvell (for a couple of months), Rankin, Feka and Colbon. And Sa but his salary doesn't count.
Paea being the only one I expect to be a big earner.

This is a real pointless discussion.

Nobody has any idea what the players earn, who counts on cap, what players got upgrades etc.

Pearson has said that we are operating at full cap so you have to believe him, off this us the case then it's obvious that we are over paying some players massively, this us something we are trying to address by getting rid of some players who don't offer value for money. However until the coaching structure is sorted who we have in the side is going to be irrelevant.

Regardless of whether or not we are under cap (which is, I agree, a pointlessly labyrinthine discussion as nobody knows players' earnings) the issue is that Radford has come out and said we are at £1.2M when Pearson has stated we are at full cap. Whichever way you look at it, Pearson will not be happy at this undermining of him (as I said, his mate was sacked for less). Radford has either let slip they are complicit with money to spend or that Pearson is holding funds back and Radford isn't happy about it. Or Radford's lying in a radio interview to save face and protect his back from the wrath of the fans. Pearson must be furious whichever is true.

Just continually looking for smoking gun minutiae is rather tiresome from some posters though.

I [iam[/i a bit tired of it all at the minute. Sick of new dawns breaking. Really thought it was cracked 2 seasons ago with Gentle, and I can't quite follow how we've ended up down this particular dead end.

I'm more worried now than I was during Agar's tenure. At least then we knew the root cause was the apathy towards our future thanks to Kath and Co., with their necks constantly craned down the M62 towards Leeds. I think Pearson made the right choice with Gentle, but not with McRae, but he's certainly chucked the baby out with the bathwater this season. I really think it's crisis time. Sorry. Because it's my belief Pearson has acted under poor advice and now it appears under no advice at all other than Radford's.

I'm not by nature a negative poster, and I even got excited about Radford's start to the season, I thought all was going to be well. But it was a false dawn and unless something is done PDQ we'll be in Agar territory again with no apparent end in sight.

So maybe I am being a bit tiresome. And maybe I am clutching at straws hoping AP was annoyed by Radford's surprising comment during the interview. Do I think it's a smoking gun? No, I think Pearson will hang onto Radford. I merely think he will have been angry at what was said, and in the current climate that won't harm and maybe it's planted a seed.

If it's any consolation Wormy, and if anyone can be @rsed to trawl this forum, I was probably the most vehement poster against the McRae appointment when it was initially announced.
That as well as telling everybody who cared to listen that our former Chief Executive was a complete t0sspot and look how all that ended in tears!
