I'd say most of the time errors & such things are usually from trying to har so I wouldn't say effort is the problem. Just trying to force passes to much & score off every play.

This could be the bump back into reality you need and realise you're not quite as good as you think yet

But also catching the ball requires effort and concentration, I'm not saying they haven't tried its just the effort hasn't been as good as the past few weeks and that's disappointing.

I don't buy this whole no effort thing. Its hard to play at the same intensity every week, hence why you never see a team go 100% undefeated in a season. If Catalans had just lost 10 in a row and playing there U18's and we had got beat by 50 points, I would agree there was probably no effort. We just got outplayed as simple as that.

Catalans are a bloody good side and have give us a good tonking today. We gave them one a few weeks back so they would obviously be up for the game more then we were.

Not sure it's down to lack of effort, more like a cack performance in what sounded like a pretty scrappy cack game. 3 from last 4 is decent. 2 weeks off, few more troops and Miller on the team.

Agree with that. Doesn't sound like a lack of effort at all. We just weren't able to turn things in our favour at any point and made too many errors.

Which is exactly what Gentle wanted to reduce. He's getting there, I think this week off has come at just the right time.

Didn't sound a very good game, too many errors & Catalans punished us for them. I reckon just about anybody would of took 9 wins out of the last 11 games before the season started. Have a week off now & focus on putting things right against Cas.

Hope you're right but they are a bloody tough proposition on their own patch.
We'll have it all on in another months time at their place.
Differently game-plan than today will be required.

Ah well. Even the best teams lose once in a while. Look at Leeds for example.

This game doesnt define our season.

We need to pick our selves up, we've just beaten some big sides in Leeds and Warrington. We have the team to compete with any team in this league. We didn't lose once in May and only once in April. That is a great run that we should be proud of.

Castleford next week, Wakefield after that. With all respect to them, I'm still confident of a result against both.

But Catalans sounded quite scrappy as well and with a bit more effort and concentration the score could of been closer, like I said earlier maybe it was a game to far for us and we do need the break.

That wrecking ball is banned aswell so that will rule out a major threat!

There was nothing wrong with the effort, the execution wasn't there today. You win some, you lose some.

Yeah because if I thought players didn't bother putting effort in then I wouldn't buy a pass every year

but I do think players can turn up to games in the wrong frame of mind and that must have a bearing on effort and concentration, Catalans is a long trip coming on the back of a long run of good results where the effort has been excellent so like I said it was probably a game to far and we need the break, I'm not disappointed with the loss because I don't expect us to win every game and I'm not having ago at the players I was merely stating that the gulf in performance from last week is quite big that's the disappointing thing for me.

Not time to press the panic button, but a reminder that we are not the finished Top4 team some have started to think we are, and that we must work harder to be consistent.

I also think O'Meley's absence again highlighted our lack of 'big' players in the side, we struggle with this early in the season on Wet pitches and also against big packs like Catalan. I feel we need to add 2 big props, one to replace O'Meley and one as squad cover/competition for the other props.

Well I'm a little disappointed we couldn't give them a game, especially as they were without the man that makes them tick.

Sounded to me like we dropped a lot of ball, that is why we lost. That is nothing to do with effort. On numerous occasions you have questioned the effort put in.

Yhe brother in law watched it in his local in Wigan and txtd me...just said we couldnt hold the ball.We wont be the last team to get beat in france and when we was in our bad run and some one said out of these 4 fixtures,we would beat Wire,Rovers and Leeds...id have said thanks.The break could be coming at the right time and by the time we face Cas...we could be at full strength....its a loss,no need to panic but some will.

as a rhinos supporter i always tend to look at how sides that have beaten us in the previous week perform in their next game and in most instances the effort and endurance put in to beat the champs ends up in a defeat the week after,your win last week again proves this point

I think the effort you put into beating us the first game of the season is why Cas turned you over in the second round.
