Whilst not the most exciting signing and certainly not one that I was initially impressed with I think we need perspective.
A lot of folk on here rate Brown (coach) at the Giants (I personally don't as he fails to get a side up for the games that count). Now he has signed a squad which is made up of misfits and never have beens. He has managed to gel them into a side that challenges for the top 4. As I say I don't think he can take them further.
Now Bomber and Gentle are starting from scratch. Their hands tied by the signings made by Agar, but they have managed to shift out some dead wood. Aspinwall is an improvement on Burnett and Washy imo so is an addition. Will he shift Manu, Ticks and Westy from the starting 13, I doubt it. He will though be a decent back up. Forget his previous off field stuff. How many millions would be in prison now if we never gave people the chance to be rehabilitated? Grow up people on that score.
I see Bomber and Gentle over seeing a period of improved performances and consistancy next season. Aiming to win at the KC and away at the "lesser" clubs. Whilst at the same time giving us hope against the likes of Wigan, Wire, Sts etc.
In other words a quiet revolution in much the same mould as Brown is alleged to have done at the Giants.
The biggest problem that has been created for us fans is AP shouting his mouth off when he arrived. Big name signings and the like, was always going to raise expectations. Thankfully I suspect Bomber has had a discrete word and we will start to see actions speaking louder than words.
So I guess its a warm welcome to Martin and I hope he does the shirt proud and silences a few doubters including me.

Exactly, everyone on here was saying we needed a signing or 2 to add a bit of depth & ensure that we don't chuck the kids in at the deep end. We've now done that & quite a lot of people aren't willing to give those a chance. Most of the kids close to stepping up are 2nd rows, what chance would they have had if we had of signed a top quality 2nd row aswell as what we've already got?

I don't really rate Martin Aspinwall. He's going to be a squad player at best, which I suppose will provide us with some depth, but it's a poor signing in my opinion.

Can't say I'm ecstatic about this signing but then I'm not devastated by it like some. On a 1 year deal he will add a bit of depth in an area we are short, if we see the Aspinwall that played for Huddersfield he will have been a shrewd signing if not its only a year deal.

We have to remember that most of the playing squad had already been signed before AP bought the club which has made it difficult for anyone to come in and pull rabbits out the hat that simply are not there. I think some of the signings are simply to fill the void for a season until Gentle can have a complete and direct input.

Lets see what Gentle can do with the players at his disposal before we condemn them.

Surely it's more down to the defensive structures that were in place rather then the players? Under the old regime no matter who we had signed for the right hand side would have struggled so lets see how they get on under Gentle? Also think it well help quite a bit that Martin is in fact a right centre so is familiar with playing on that side.

In the workplace you will be sacked for both....In the court of law you will be given different sentences, simple really.

Professionals have to maintain a certain behavior at all times, doctors, nurses, lawyers etc this also includes sporting professionals who are in the public eye, hence their behavior reported in the media, it brings the profession into dispute, so it is a very relevant argument

Underwhelmed by the signing but we will just have to wait and see how things pan out. We needed another backrower and the fact it is just a 1 year deal say he has been signed as a stop gap rather than a solution. It is fine relying on the youth but to go into a new season with just 2 recognised 2nd rowers is a massive risk, at least we now have 3 and if he doesn't impress he will be on his way next season.
Lets just see how the team goes before slamming the players signed.

I wouldn't say they were pointless signings, maybe not as good as some of hoped but certainly not pointless.

yes ,i can see what what youre saying,and i mostly agree but i still think it will be seen as our achilles heel by most other teams in defence and not much of a threat in attack but yes hopefully a better structure under the new coach will resolve this..maybe we were all expecting too much from pearsons rallying call eh?

You are right, however you are still disciplined at work if it gets to court, this actually also happens at RM, if a postie is found guilty at court it is considered they brought the business into disrepute, i know a few who got sacked for outside activities so to speak.
