In the same way Hull fans took great pleasure a couple of seasons back when Shaun Briscoe was led off the field. It happens, always has and always will but I would doubt anyone would have anything wrong to say about Long tonight, apart from berrigans bitch that is.

A speedy return I hope for Long, who has been a tremendous servant to the game and I would hate to see him finish his playing days like this.

I've never heard anything as shameful as the "respect" from your lot today. I certainly don't think it does "always" happen. You've given a poor example, as well, as the vast majority of Hull fans still regard and hold Briscoe in great esteem for his sevices to us. No injury has ever been celebrated at Hull in recent memory, unless you can provide evidence otherwise?

When Long has been injured in the past - Agar has valued his input. Most coaches don't train - they instruct. Just think this could be focussed into Ellis for next season in an attempt to actually have him ready. If he arrives at the end of this season as he's playing now, there's no way he's ready to take up the mantle.

I'm not sure if you kept the said game on your Sky +, but the camera picked up certain Hull fans waving him (Briscoe) off the pitch. And I'm not sure it was because they hold him still in such high regards. As said, it happens, it's not right, but it does.

Also, I know you said in recent memory, but some Hull fans still rejoice to this day in Millward having his jaw broken at Wembley and I'm certain Andy Dannat was held in a smilair high regard to Briscoe after he 'sorted out' Hanley back in the day. Was that a broken jaw if my memory is correct?

Long has been injury prone throughout his entire career, he's just unlucky in that respect.

If Long had turned up, put his feet up and basically said, right I am here for a holiday, then yes, he would have been a waste of money. I can't remember there being much opposition to the signing of Long when it was announced, hence indicating that no one thought it was going to be a waste of money then.

Chris Thorman was a waste of money as he was not fit for purpose.

Sean Long hasn't let the side down, he has copped a few bad injuries.

St's had Kyle Eastmond waiting in the wings. When Long was injured they had no need to rush him back as there was a more than adequate replacement for him. St's also knew he was leaving and will have wanted to give Eastmond plenty of game time but still in the knowledge that Long was there should Eastmond not be as they had hoped. Had Eastmond not had the talent or been there at all, Long would have had far more game time in 2009.

Longs injury record has not been excessive until his time at Hull. If it had been pulled muscles or strains, then the injury prone tag would probably have been justified. But a dislocated elbow, broken thumb and todays as yet unconfirmed (but likely dislocation) injury are hardly run of the mill ageing injuries.

What bores me, is fans who prefer to scapegoat players when things are completely beyond that players control.
