| Quote ="PAUL M"It's the timing that is the big thing for me. We are talking about 7,000 people in east Hull that watch Rovers, do they really warrant this type of spend when so many other services are being cut? At least if it's a loan then it makes it a bit easier to understand but what hapens if Rovers can't make the payments in 4 years time? Also who is paying the interest in the first four years, as Rovers are on a basic rent during this time.'"
I think some of the reporting has been, if not inaccurate then misleading.

=#0040FFAfter Hull got a share of a £40m+ gift, complaints about Rovers getting a share of a £4m loan would seem very mean spirited to me. Essentially the only remaining option would be the council saying f-off and take your vision of a multi-purpose community facility, long-term SL participation and £2m pound European development grant with you. Is that what you think would be doing the right thing by KuH? Looking at this thread, I suppose that is a rhetorical question.'"
How many 'gifts' do you pay rent on? And a share of the self-same 'gift' was offered to Rovers. Not our fault that you turned it down.

I don't doubt that for a second, it's still essentially £4m for 7000 people though.

I'd count it as about £1.3m (with the other 2 partners taking roughly [uequal[/u shares). All three partners intend to repay the loan. If loan it be.
Even at £4 million and counting the fans of FC and City works out per capita better value than the KC.

I've said before that if the offer was made again it'd have to be looked at if it was the only one on the table. Would that have been your preferred option?

Not me - I like the way things turned out just fine. Always amuses me when the whole 'KC gift' thing gets trotted out by Rovers fans though. And as I don't live in Hull I'm not even contributing towards Rovers 'gift' so I'm not getting worked up about that either. Compared with my council wasting £4m on a bus lane that isn't needed and nobody wants it looks like decent value for money.

Don't begrudge you lot the KC. Hope Cas, Wakey and Salford get sorted out. It's all good for RL. People can talk about the economic situation but unless the RFL relax their franchise criteria to reflect it, those imperatives remain. The punchline to the advice of 'wait, wait, wait...' would be '... too late; ha ha'. This we know.
If it is a loan, which I believe it is, you can look forward to plenty more amusement in the future.

Given the impressively selective memory of the vast majority of Rovers fans I expect the amusement to continue regardless of whether this turns out to be a loan or not.

| I think the council's freedom of information team may be very busy as they will have to supply the answers to anyone about the deal.It does seem a little hazy as who will be providing the adult education? (at a time when the fund for adult education has been slashed and 5 minutes from the multi million pound freedom centre which Hull adult eduction is already based in).

Quote The move was agreed by cabinet councillors as part of a £344,000 package of savings in cultural services spending by the authority next year.
It comes just weeks after the award-winning theatre company based in Ferensway had its main Art Council grant reduced by nearly £40,000 to £520,000.
Other council cultural services cuts next year include £50,000 being shaved off the budget for the Freedom Festival and a £65,000 reduction in spending on tourism marketing.
Leisure services spending is also being cut.'"
The HDM also reports Hull City Hall and the New Theatre to have £55k "staff savings", £340k savings from staff restructuring and reduced opening times at Hull museums, free parking at Hull Arena to be scrapped, possible closure of the cafe at Ferens Art Gallery, opening times and staff to be cut at Costello Stadium and possible closure of three Lesisure centre creches.

| Your right Mr wall it was'nt condemned however a prohibition order was placed on it last Novemeber until a lot of work was completed on it because it was dropping to bits. It was then reinspected by the Council and passsed fit to use last season. It will be inspected again and given a certificate before it can be used again once it has been moved.

Im not sure if Karl thinks it will be moved in 1 piece as if he does its a bit of a silly thing to think as it will have to be dismantled to be moved anyway.

| Maybe the Council might 'back' my fund raising campaign to become a woman. The Lib Dems can always be counted on to suppoort a campaign ! There are loads of campaigns where they are nothing more than perfume politicians . Smell nice but NO substance. Minns would support a campaign to get a mono rail system from Woodcock St to Walkington as long as his face was there on the poster ! Will he march on Brussels when the funding is declined in 2012 !! Also , what private investor has £2m for a stand in East Hull ?????
Will Hudge be getting a loan from Dublin ?
The most important thing is the SL franchise panel asking " so , just where is the cash for this fancy drawing of a new stand ?" Preston Road has taken any ££ that that area will ever need.
Highly amusing to me
