We should be modelling ourselves on the best. I very much doubt a major company would allow a member of staff to complete a visa application without it being looked over by the company

I would not retain Cusack, not because I don't rate him but I don't think we need him and Fizgibbon, too similar except Fitz is a better player so I think we should let him go.

WE let Carvell go!!,we had all the cards stacked in our favour,he signed the contract,so we got rid of him,now if I run this club,I don't let my best asset go,if I haven't got anybody to fill that position who is of eqaul ability or better,that only results in the position that we are in today,it was a management decision and in my eyes,a very poor one.

I beg to differ on the biggest asset theory, did you not see how much time he had out injured for a start and the fact he has only just come back into the Warrington side after injury.

Oh and it was his decision to leave what was the point on trying to hold on to someone who wanted to go, none whatsoever!

The Carvell issue was not really the club's fault. I don't think that they could have done anymore but TBH I was quite happy to see him leave given his terrible injury record. To tie up a lot of salary cap on him for 3 or 4 seasons would have been a big gamble.

I was almost of the opinion that it would be good business to see him leave and then spend his money on a player of equal or greater stature who would play twice as many games. Unfortunately, the fact that he hasn't been replaced is the most disappointing thing.

Lauaki and another forward of his size and power and our pack will be stronger without Carvell.

The news of Cusack's possible new contract is very concerning to me however, because it probably means that our recruitment in the pack is over for 2010 and we have still not addressed our problem of go-forward and impact.

I thought that might be the case TBH. I knew a couple of folk who went to work for US companies and got zero assistance with visa and Green Card applications.

So you'd have tied up a large chunk of our salary cap by holding on to a player who didn't want to be here and publicly stated as much?

I would have thought that with overseas players being down to 6 next year it will also mean that Moa will be on his way should Lauaki get over, and we'll be after a scrum half or fullback but not both. Tony to get a new deal too? Why not a 1 year extension, we don't offer enough players those?

Personally i think cusack deserves a extension to his contract.Cusack is nothing spectacular but does what he does very well.Takes the ball up well and a sound defence,in my eyes likes dowes both are reliable performers.

But it's this very attribute running through the bulk of our squad which finds us in the current situation. I don't think anyone's saying he's not a good player, just that we need to start making changes to the current squad with particular attention to the balance of it. Continually retaining what we have will only make the necessary changes less and less possible.

How many "nothing spectacular" players can a squad carry if it is to compete at the very top ???

We have a squad full to the brim with players who "do a job" and until that changes we will continue to be as dull as dishwater to watch !!
