| Its not working with him in charge. Teams a mess and no better than when Radford was here
Time to let him go and let Purtill see the season out then go from there

| Whilst I agree with your sentiments, is putting Purtill in charge going to result in anything different?
Pearson got it wrong by keeping Radford for this season when we desperately needed a fresh face with fresh ideas.
Instead, we get same old performances, same old excuses, same old. 'we know how to put things right', and same old player interviews in the local paper.
I don't have any enthusiasm for the club at the moment.

| As I said on another thread, we need a State of the Nation communication now. Where we are at financially and contractually. No point letting fans speculate about coaches and squad upgrades if the economics aren't there. Transparency about how close - or otherwise - we are to the brink. Options for fans to support if they can or are able to. Scenarios for 2021. We need some context that reflects the truth.

| I think had the Covid situation not been such a devastating issue and caused a real dangerous threat to the future of not just the club but the sport as a whole then I think AP would have gone and got a new Coach.
Sadly the plain fact is right now it’s about survival and taking stock. Is the gamble speculating on a new coach or is it sticking and holding station for time being. It’s a very difficult dilemma AP faces.
ATEOTD he showed too much loyalty to Radford when he should have shown him the door at the end of last season as he’d given him enough chances and player funds to get things right. Those just didn’t happen and AP compounded that by keeping him on into this season with the same end result on the field.

| In fairness to Last its been a tough season to take over.
Took him months to actually get any time with the players which was then interrupted by an isolation period and then all the short turnarounds have seriously limited time on the training ground.
I have no idea if he is the man to take us forward or not, just worth bearing in mind the challenges he has had so far when making a judgement.

| Just do him a favour and let him go
It’s like letting a 6th former become Head teacher
He’s a nice guy - no issues at all with him personally
He’s had a blast at FC - dream job
However just simply not good enough and AP is showing again he can’t make the tough decisions
I’ve always said LR should have gone in 2015
With that 2016 - 17 squad we should have made the GF as well as the Cups. Ffs the treble was in our grasp
Save some money and clear out Last and 1-2 long term back room staff
Put KP and Gaz E in charge and see out the season

| I reckon if we made a play for Powell we would be able to get him for next year. Things seem to have gone off the boil at Cas and all Powell does these days is moan about one thing or another in his interviews. Get the feeling that a change of scenery would do him some good.
Money talks though and I dont know what contract he has left at Cas or how much Pearson would be willing to pay, but he would definitely get us in better shape.

Any coach in the league would get us in better shape.
Let's get Luke Robinson, he has 100% record

Tbf Last is only an interim coach thankfully.
Hopefully we'll see the season out with him and work over the off season to bring someone of calibre in.
Last looked like a beaten man last night it can't be pleasant for him trying to change the playing style, lift player morale and galvanise the team but yet we still turn out the same dross we witnessed under Radford.

Yes because Cas, under Powell, have won the LLS once and one CC final defeat, Radford achieved more...

| Powell wouldn't be top of my list, but I'd have him over the current set up. Saying that I'd have just about any qualified coach who have some SL, Championship or NRL experience right now.

Imho: I think Powel has great player development skills but I think he seems to lack a little in team and game plan skills. They (Cas) can play some really good stuff at times, but other times they can leave you scratching you head.

| In an ideal world, where finances aren’t precarious, I’d have gone for Wane (to get a grip on the culture of the club) or Fitzgibbon (already said he won’t break his contract, and will end up head coach in the NRL anyway).
I think if there is a change, it will need to be someone who is available, and in the country already (like Tony Smith at the Dobbins).
I wonder if the challenges facing the game will kill off APs energy and enthusiasm for the game. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Is Smith 'available' (wouldn't want him if he was though)

| It amazes me that people still expect that a new coach would jump at the chance of joining us.
Even if such a coach existed, the chances of it happening are nil.

It’s one of the bigger jobs in Super League. Many coaches would relish the chance in a normal situation. Covid has changed everything though financially.

Please explain why they wouldn't?
You know apart from; career progression, the challenge, the quality in the squad we have and potentially increase in earnings, why would anyone want to join us, you're right

Here you go again, there's a pandemic if you haven't noticed, the club is close to bankruptcy and the the future of the whole game is in doubt, who in their right mind would give up a job, move over to Hull and potentially risk everything?
Hope that's clear enough for you.

| Think Last has been given an impossible situation.
He’s been handed someone else’s squad, and no matter what people say it was Radford who had the say in signings and how they played.
Ask Last if he’d have signed a luxury player (Fonua) or another forward

| AP should save money and move Last and 1-2 others and SAVE money
We can limp to the end with KP and Gaz
Last has proved he’s not fit to coach at this level
So save cash and give Kp a chance
Of course there’s no way at all AP can hire someone else
No way
The future is totally unclear, only a rich fool would pay a new coach to come in
So let’s save cash and move Last on and hand to KP
If Last stays then again I more and more have to question AP and his judgement
