If Ellis doesn't make it I would give Turgut a chance in the back row, but I don't think Radford will go that way.

I expect to see more of Thompson in the back row than prop this year so he'll be ahead of Turgut. Whiting too depending on how his training has been going.

From what I've read the club are putting an emphasis on the performance of the U19s. I take this to mean that players like Turgut will be focusing on winning with the U19s rather than trying to push ahead of the older players.

I think we need to put full squad out that we would play against Huddersfield with, time to show what we can really do before the opener

Given the injury to Ellis I would give him another week so he is fit for Huddersfield that's more important.
My concern is at left centre.Yeaman had a poor game against HKR and we do need additional pace in the backs, but barring a magnificent debut at Wakefield from Michaels expect Yeaman to start at Huddersfield.
The surprise could be Naughton.Radford mentions him in all his recent interviews.

I thought Naughton's done OK in both games so far. Good kick returns, and very quick.

I'd give Howarth and Cunningham 40 minutes each in this game. Don't play Danny Houghton. We need to see if both are up to the season.

Agree with that. Also Bowden and green got to improve for me. I really hope they do as both have the tools to be good props

might be interesting to go into the game without houghton playing at all to see how we would cope if he gets injured during the season

Pros and cons. Houghton's been very good so will clearly be starting. Rest him to protect a key player and assess interchange options or play him to get consistency in the new spine of the team?

Have to say Danny Houghton is looking sharp.Still looping a few passes but we would really miss him if he was injured.
We know what he can do so would rather see Cunningham/Rankin given game time at nine.
Just don't get the signing of Howarth.From the little time we have seen him he is everything Salford and Saints fans said he was.
