Saw him playing for Wigan against Rovers in the preseason friendly and he looked very very quick off the mark and elusive.

Its a odd signing though as unless Ellis/Nicklas are out of favor or Horne doesn't want to play fullback I doubt he will play.

Hope not. I'd rather put Horne at fullback and have Ellis/Nicklas in the halves with Seymour.
Think the kid will need a bit longer to train with us.

Limited experience only played twice in the 1st team AFAICS and one of these on the wing, scored 3 tries though. Can't see him starting v Leeds unless Horne not ready to come back.

Do we really want to go through the rest of the season with Seymour and one of Ellis or Nicklas as our halfs because Horne is our full back as i know i dont. Too many potential problems in there like Horne not being able to take the hammerings a full back gets and the fact that neither Ellis or Nicklas are good enough. So im happy with the signing as it allows Seymour and Horne to continue in the halfs

I'm guessing Lynne has not impressed enough to be given a chance?

I would assume that Gentle is wanting to have Ellis on the bench in order to give Houghton a spell, hence Russell at fullback, Horne and Seymour in the halves.

What's the point of a month?

I had hoped these signings were behind us.

To try and help the club win games this month.

The club had no other choice as we don't have any specialised FB's.

Lyne isn't good enough, and we need Horne and Seymour at halfbacks as the other two aren't good enough at the moment.

Indication of the clubs youth policy when your borrowing an 18 year old from the Pies.

Developing young players from the big clubs just shows you how far behind we are.

Whilst I agree, you can't have players in either position coming through, we have given game-time to a centre, halfbacks, props and backrow forwards.

We also have a winger and hooker who could come through.

FB seems to be a position we are struggling in at this present time.

Interestingly Luke Briscoe played a lot at FB for the youth teams and could have made his debut this year, instead of sat on the bench for Leeds under 20's.

Sign him for another month or play Horney there? It's evident that Gentle doesn't think Lyne is up to the job and it wasn't exactly in the plans for McKinnon to go back. I'm not a huge fan of loan spells either, but had Lyne/J.Briscoe/whoever had more 1st team experience in the past couple of years we wouldn't be in this position.
